I've been getting emails almost every week about a mod I did a long time ago on my Spyder and I've been wanting to take the time and do one up right and today was that day that it got done. I have the prototype done and I'm going to make a run of these in the next couple of weeks.
This hides your key In Plain Site and dresses up the handlebar area. I've had more fun making up stories to owners and Spyder dealers about what this was. I've told dealers that they are a steering stabilizer only offered in the Limited Edition Spyders and they bought it. nojoke
So now you can have a little fun making up stories about your IPS that without it the VSS, ABS and DPS won't work at all.
This took two days to get it right but I'm really happy with the end results. The first one I made I had to cut the key and JB weld the key into the billit cover I used. Then I had to use a foam filler to close the gap that was left under the key. Even though it was a little ruff it still looked pretty good and I've put well over 40,000 miles on that Spyder and have never removed my key. Not that I recommend this but it works for me. :doorag:
I don't have a hard price on them yet but it shouldn't be too bad and there is no cutting or gluing of your stock key. Your key bolts in to the bottom of the IPS and can be removed at any time and transferred to another Spyder. They will work on on models of Spyders including the RT.
I didn't save all the emails of folks that inquired about them but if you want to drop me another line I'll reserve one for you. They will be done in a brushed finish like these pictures and a black anodized with ball milled sides and logo engraving. You can email me at [email protected] and just say you want info on the IPS key cover.
You can see this up close and personal and the Owners Event in Chicago. :doorag:
