• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Too hot to handle - heat on inner thighs fm glovebox - any suggestions?

Trying to decide about whether I want to replace the cat converter with 'S' pipe (cat delete) because of the noticeable heat the cat produces. The replacement pipe will result in some loss of back pressure, do you also notice any loss of torque or acceleration on the vehicle with that conversion?

I didn’t notice anything, but then again I’m not an overly aggressive rider.

Put the baffle in the cat delete and you won't notice any difference in the low end torque. I/we ride in 100 degrees + on many summer rides. I have a 14RT with cat delete, stage 2 and I run Baker's air wings and sit on a Misty Mountian seat cover. No heat issues at all. If you want to talk heat, go take a spin on a Harley in the summertime. I've owned several, I know.

I have a 2019 RTL, and my ignition key, glove box, and front of seat all get quite hot here in 100 degree Texas. I have the RLS cat delete, and SpyderPop's right side heat shield to redirect that heat down. I drilled four or five 1" holes in the floor pan to allow that blocked heat to escape down per his advice, but I think I will remove the floor pan entirely, or at least cut that triangle down there out completely.

I also bought some sticky heat insulation matting. I noticed the foam backing behind the Tupperware is starting to crumble. So I'm going to replace that on the knee panels, and see if there's an opportunity to line the underside of the glovebox, and perhaps fashion up some sort of extra blockage to keep the heat from traveling up into those areas.

I hate the idea of cutting the visible body work... but I may also go with the venting kit. Two questions: will that still work on a 2019 RTL? And won't it dump the hot air over my knees/legs?

On my F3, I did a plus one to the cat delete and wrapped the pipe with 32 ft of double thickness titanium heat tape then coated it with hi-temp silicone. I didn't notice much of a difference in the cooler weather but now that the 100 deg. days are here I'm glad that I did it.

If you mean the pipe from the headers to the primary muffler/cat delete, I asked about this in another thread, and the consensus I got was that it would not help much. If you mean your delete itself, I got the RLS one that is ceramic coated already.

Wait a minute, all this talk from some, why isn't anyone else reporting the same problem? I live in San Antonio Tx - it gets hot here too. I just figured that it's Texas; the time of the year; the design of the Spyder; and lots of body panels capturing all the heat - oh yeah, getting caught in traffic too. These vents - can someone post a pic of these vents? The cat delete I know about, but these vents, where can I get them, or start looking?

When I installed the belt tensioner from Lamonstergarage.com - I found 2 things:

1. I knew the belt tensioner would take away the vibration from the belt, which it did and is a must. Lamonstergarage.com belt tensioner is an awesome part, awesome design, no vibration at all.

2. The 2nd thing that I found was that a mouse had started building his house on top of the motor just below the glove box. All of us need to check this area once and a while, it's a possible fire hazard.

Thanks guys, GDoc

My ride is a 2016 Can-Am Spyder RTS SE6, Orbital Blue.

I have the cat delete and the cowl vent kits like BRP used on the 2013 RT's for their heat problem...I'm happy...larryd

Hi I just purchased the heat management kit for my 2016 RTL. The kit did not come with the template, and none of the dealers around me have them. Does anyone have them that could send them to me?

If you go back and read the earlier posts in this thread Harleyman, there's a link to another thread there, I think about post#8. That thread has a number of ideas in it about how to go about fitting those vents, and links to other threads &/or members who can PM you the templates & instructions - just don't try to contact those members shown in there with Red or Grey usernames, they are no longer active here & probably won't reply; but if they've got a Blue username, just click on their username & either PM them or if the option is available, you might even choose to email them.

Good Luck!

I don't know if the 2016 already has a (smaller) hole in them like the 2019 does, but I did not use a template or enlarge the hole. But I also did not have the deadener and need to replace it with the brace, so your experience may differ.
