• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tom Tom Rider 2 GPS

I have one with about 38,000 miles on it with my Spyder.

Cons; Cost. Several of the accessories I bought did not work at all and others I had to mod to work. Some I just sent back. I am talking about mounts and a power cable. It goes nuts every now and then. Don't ever ask it to find a gas station in your vicinity. After you wait for a long time it will reset itself and never find the gas station. You can't lock it to your bike. The only 'freeway' it recognizes is an interstate. Map updates are about $100 per throw.

Pros: Water proof, glove operable, sexy British voice, easy to read. When it goes crazy sticking a toothpick in it makes it reset and all is forgiven. Good itinerary planning.

I would hope there are better options out there. On the other, hand I would not leave home without this thing.

One of the feature I wish it had would be one to follow a road. I don't necessarily want to get any where, I just want to stay on a particular road. I don't know that anyone offer this but I wish someone did. A simple programming task.

my 2 cents

The zumos are very popular and in many other forums, are more popular. I have the 550, but out now are the 660 and the 665...depends on how much you want to spend...

The Tom Tom is a good choice but I will always go with a Garmin as customer service is far and away superior to any other brand...

Thanks for the input ! I think I'll wait a little longer and invest in the Garmin

I think that is a good move...I think Lamont has the 660...that wasn't out yet when I bought my 550...now they have the 665...geeez! You can never keep up with the technology.

Regardless, I love my 550...it is paired with my scala rider 2 and iphone so I can listen to music and talk on the phone...although for safety, I keep both to a minimum.

The zumo is updated quite easily on your computer...Garmin is the master of customer service...when you call, you don't get a machine or 30 minute wait, you usually get a live, U.S. person within an few minutes...they help you through whatever problem you have by the hand...amazing service...never seen anything like it before...would never buy anything other than a garmin.

They repaired a bad touchscreen on my Zumo 450 (6 months out of warranty) for free.

Yeah...that is a common theme for them. They really won't let the unit not work...once you start a conversation with them, they will track your issue until it is resolved...amazing! I bought a magellan for travel (car) a few years ago...like it but when I had to call customer support, it wasn't that great. Garmin is really impressive!

Glad your 450 was fixed...much better when it works! hehe!

If you live in an area with speed cameras/red light cameras, go to POIfactory.com and pay them the 20.00/year...there you can download POIs with warnings for all those in the country...they update this list weekly. They also have POI lists for starbucks and many other things that people have created...
