We are planning our trip to Canada for the BRP Homecoming. We are leaving from Bayfield Wisconsin and entering Canada at Sault Ste. Marie, MI. From there we go to Pembroke ON and then north east to Sherbrooke which is near BRP's headquarters. This leg of our trip is just over 1,000 miles. After the Homecoming on Sunday we take off along the south shore of the St. Lawrence Seaway with an ultimate destination of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. Cape Breton is an island ranked by Travel and Leisure magazine as the 3 best island to visit in the world and the number 1 island to visit in the continental United States and Canada, H.O.G. readers voted the riding in Cape Breton the best in the US and Canada in a recent poll. The trip from Sherbrooke to Cape Breton is just over 1,000 miles. We ride 300 - 350 miles a day with one or two 400 mile days from time to time. From Cape Breton there we will head to Niagara Falls and back to Sault Ste. Marie before arriving back at Madeline Island, WI. For us this is a "bucket list ride". Should anyone like to join us for all or part of our ride, we would welcome the company. We have routes selected but where you stay, when you get up or go to bed or where and when you eat or stop are your decisions.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How long will you stay at Cape Breton Island? Do you know how difficult it is to get lodging at that time of year?

You folks are going to enjoy the trip a lot. Back in 1997 that was a honeymoon trip for me. We went to Nova Scotia and back. Cape Breton was very nice. Our starting point was Ashland.

Lodging at that time of year should not be difficult to get. It gets really busy after school lets out at the end of June.
If you want a really great ride. Take Hwy 132 all the way to Campbelton, NB. You will be right beside the St. Lawrence Seaway all the way to the Gulf of St. Lawrence. We did this ride last year and we plan on doing it again next year, because it was so nice. It has some of the most beautiful scenery that you will ever see. For me, it was a better ride than the Cabot trail. nojoke

Sounds like a well thought out trip that we may be interested in, the mileage per day is about what we would want to ride too. We're from north central Wisconsin so it would be easy to meet up with you. Any thoughts on when you anticipate leaving and how long you plan on being gone?

After the Homecoming event my wife and I are planning to take Hwy 132 around the Gaspe and into New Brunswick as this is an area that my wife has not been to. We have bicycled around Cape Bretton and I have driven it and really loved it. The Gaspe is very beautiful and will make a great ride.
We will keep our ears open for any more info on a group heading that way.
