• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

To wave or not to wave, that is the question

Wave

I wave at 2 and 3 wheelers.....If they don't wave back then I figure they have a problem.....

I do wave, but I also notice that some HD riders will not wave at us, since they feel we are not riding a real motorcycle...

My wife & I wave at every bike we see, yes Harleys included. I find that other riders of all types of bikes will wave. Some times they initiate the wave, sometimes I do. We have taken a couple of 300 mile overnights in the last 2 weeks and saw probably close to 50 other riders each trip. No :ani29:, but I would bet that 96% of all ( yes Harleys included) waved. It's about the ryde, & most riders get that. So wave at everybody! You might be surprised.

Motorcycle or car ?

In New Zealand they are classed as a car, we can ride them on a car licence, they are register as a car and receive a car registration plate.

Forgotten Harley reason

Top Ten Reasons Why Harley Riders Don't Wave Back
10. Afraid it will invalidate warranty.
9. Leather and studs make it too heavy to raise arm.
8. Refuse to wave to anyone whose bike is already paid for.
7. Afraid to let go of handlebars because they might vibrate off.
6. Rushing wind would blow scabs off the new tattoos.
5. Angry because they just took out second mortgage to pay luxury tax on new Harley.
4. Just discovered the fine print in owner's manual and realized H-D is partially owned by Honda.
3. Can't tell if other riders are waving or just reaching to cover their ears like everyone else.
2. Remembers the last time a Harley rider waved back, he impaled his hand on spiked helmet.
1. They're too tired from spending hours polishing all that chrome to lift their arms.

Bob you forgotten the real Reason Harley riders don't wave back

1+/ Their to busy to see you wave as they're watching in their mirrors to see where the last part has landed after it has vibrated off.

I heard somewhere that 90% of Harleys are still on the road.

The rest made it to their destination.

Wave

I wave to all, 2 or 3 wheel, If they don't wave back they are snobs. I just wave at all riders 2 or 3. Every rider deserves a wave.:clap::yes::clap::yes::clap:

Has anyone ever figured out the average age of spyder drivers. :yikes: That might have something to do with our propensity to wave

I have driven a Jeep for so long and I have done the Jeep wave all of these years that I find myself waving at Jeeps when I am on the Spyder.

Age

Both the missus & me are 60+.I remember the two wheel raised fist salute of around 1972, when I was riding a BSA 650 Lightning. Fast as all get out. In those days, I was single and rode like the young whippersnappers that I see now. When they get to be our age, they will:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown: to be on a :ani29:. Saw one in NYC about 3 weeks ago around 7:30 pm at about 86th & West End Ave. Looked like an RS. The arachnids are now invading the cities!!

You guys like to beat up on HD
I wave to everyone
Even sometimes when I'm in my truck I forget I'm not on the :spyder2:and wave
Some bikers wave back when at my truck
Most bikers even HD wave back

44 years of age for me. Never really interested in a 2 wheeler. My wife will NOT ride on the back of a 2 wheeler. Started looking at Spyders spring of 2013 while at the Ski doo dealer. Bought my St-L just before Thankgiving. So far we love it.

I wave to everyone on a bike unless I am going through a sharp corner. I also find that Most Harley riders wave, maybe about 80 to 85% of them.

Jeeeze you guys why are we hashing this out again! I wave at everybody. Some wave back some don't. Yea even from my Harleys for 30 years.

Get Over It!

Actual age . . . or mental age? For some of us, there is a BIG difference!

. . . and I wave at anyone who rides . . . because it is simply a greeting . . .

Maybe it is just a Texas thing... or a Southern thing... at least in the rural parts.....not so much in the cities..
If you are in your truck or car, and have a hand at the top of the wheel, Ya raise a finger to oncoming traffic to say "hey"... try not to use the middle finger... bad form...Chances are ya know that person, even if you don't recognize the car.. or more likely the truck they are in...
Doesn't matter if the other person doesn't respond...You made a friendly gesture.

In a small town country setting, ya wave to everyone, or they will come to ya latter and ask if you are OK....

It is not a big deal to acknowledge someone... and it doesn't take much effort.... it is REALLY not a big deal.
