What would you say are the main advantages and disadvantages of the Spyder vs your 2 wheel ride?
And if you no longer ride a 2 wheeler, do you miss it?

For me, the big advantage of the Spyder is the stability, but in a sense that's also the disadvantage as leaning
and countersteering are out.
And yes, I love my Spyder but I do miss the 2 wheel ride.

My advantage is all in my head. I don't ruin the ride now by spending half of it wondering if I am gonna lay it down. I have snowmobiled since I was 4 and to me it is just like a sled. Now I just enjoy the ryde.

I originally purchased the :spyder2: because it was new and unique. I got the second one to hit Alaska and have been hooked ever since. I have owned 4 :ani29:,s since their inception. A 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Health issues begin to overtake me in 2010 and I have had back issues, arthritis, and hip issues. I said farewell to my last two wheeled ride last summer and traded it for the 2011 :spyder2: for akspyderlady. I can still ride and don't have to worry about feeling that I am not going to be able to support the bike properly at stops.

I still drool about some of the new two wheeled hardware that is being introduced. I really would like one of those Honda F6B Deluxe Gold Wings--but all I am going to end up with on that, is a test sit this spring. :roflblack:

I rode 2 wheelers for over 35 years but it ended when I hit the rear end of a SUV at 65 MPH on my Harley...Kid didn't see me and slammed on his brakes in the middle of making a turn..That was in 2007....13 operations on my legs resulted in the demise of me riding any 2 wheeler because I wouldn't be able to pick up the weight of the bike because my leg is so fragile and my insurance company would no longer love me...The Spyder was my salvation...I thought my riding days were over....Do I miss the 2 wheels...yes and no....but I'm still riding which is all that counts to me.

Lost my left leg above the knee cuz of a drunk driver in Oct of 87. Didnt sober up till 93 go figure! Got back on a sidecar in 02, grateful to be alivr today.

Been in the wind for 41 of my 74 years, so I guess I started late.

Loved all my rides (maybe except for the AMF Harley), and would love to have them all back. My GS 1000 Suzuki was very, very quick for 1978. My very first Aspencade was a head turner in 1982. But my favorite two wheeler was my 1999 Valkyrie Interstate. I would have been happy to ride it forever.

My wife bought an RTSE in early 2010 and I rode it a few times and liked it a lot. When the arthritis in the left knee caused me to almost lose the Valk at stoplights a few times, my wife surprised me and bought me a 2011 RT for my birthday. I thought I would alternate between machines but after 16,000 miles on the RTSM, I traded for a 2102 Limited and the Valk has gone to a new home.

I rode two wheelers for over 40 years, I started with street Trikes in early 08, I still have a two wheeler, and ride it , But not a lot in the last year, And i do miss riding it. But it's so much easier to jump on the Trike,
Like today 2 inches of snow and a inch of frozen rain on top of it, Had to ride 15 miles today Took the Trike, Ain't gonna do that on two wheels,
The only disadvantage with the Trike is the size [width]

I spent over 55 years on two wheels, along with some others on here, Whizzers, Cushman, Hummers, homebuilts, HD, BSA, Honda. Do I miss them, sometimes, but the Safety, security and fun are all here on a Spyder. The little I miss on a Spyder (if any ) is more then ofset by reason memtioned.
I have seen to many people who say/think a Trike is not a motorcycle. If I drop my two wheeler, it only hurts me. Not if we sitting next to you at a stop light, dropping yours while parking takes out three or four more. Many times, a souse is torn between riding with you and riding in fear for their life.
I will get off my rant.
I do think Spyder lovers should steal the Honda Slogan thou. You meet the nicest people on a ( Spyder )Honda

well, its like this for me-

- got Spyder cause was/is different
Pros : have all the enjoyment of a bike, freedom feel, adrenalin, style
Cons: once you stuck in traffic - you're stuck in traffic, no way out of it

Differences: - or shal i say some of the reasons which gives you so well known peace of mind on Spyder
1,- well i take bends on Spyder as on two wheeler so i skip that it doesnt lean because i do lean in myself so it feels so so same to me although without the risk that if you miscalculate ......
2,- no need to carry/support weight of bike on stops or reversing
3,- weather conditions and road surface make no difference to a ride - just dont be stupid, otherwise you're fine
4,- acceleration - no matter how fast and how much you open it - you are not going to end up in unwanted wheelie or bike's solo ride crash
5,- deceleration or stopping - need to stop or slow down - hit the brake pedal - (dont try it on two wheeler - its painful and expensive)

I loved my motorcycle and will still ride my husband's Harley. But I love the Spyder. I miss swaying/weaving on the bike and I miss the attention I got as a woman riding a motorcycle. BUT I love the freedom and independence I have with the Spyder. I can load all my bags by myself easily. I take people for rides all the time, without worry. I don't fear getting a heavy bike into deep gavel or sand and needing help getting it out or worrying about tipping it over. The travel cover is a breeze to put on and take off and I can do it alone in a few minutes. It is much more comfortable over long distances and in much lower temps. I won't go back.:clap:

My wife loves to ride but won't pilot a machine with less than 4 wheels. I bought the Spyder for two up riding exclusively. I didn't feel confident on the Harley or the Triumph riding two up.
I still have both two wheelers but only for solo riding.

Bikes: I can drag knee, much faster than Spyder. It leans. I can go off road.

It's just different, if you like being different.

No greater feeling...

in the world (well I take that back, there is one but it takes two people) than powering out of a curve in third or fourth gear on a Harlery.... but at the same time, there's no worse feeling in the world than that Harley sliding out from under you. You can get the powering out feeling with a Spyder and avoid the sliding out from under you feeling....at a certain age, the Spyder wins tires down.....:bowdown:smoky

Been riding two wheeler about 50 years. Build my first from a popular mechanics magazine to the last one I pieced together From goldwing, GSX-R, GS'S, Yamaha parts. Was a great sport wing hated selling it before moving to San Diego. My wife missed riding so she got me 2012 Spyder RS and we have not looked back since. It is a different ryde and we love it you sit high and feel low like driving a formula car while on horseback. So we ryde on and on and on...:2thumbs:

Korean War knee started acting up again in 2005 and I could not safely hold my GL1800 up so I triked it. I sold my sold my Suzuki Bandit 1200 after it was "reworked" by a pro motorcycle mechanic and it was toooo much for me as I could not keep my right hand in a civil position. Bought my 2011 RT-S just because I wanted it. Have two trikes and love both. Would not go back to two wheels even though I have been on them since 1948.
