• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tires Sizes and Heights

I have been reading the posts on the what tire to use on the Spyder, and would like to know if anyone has used tires that were not the size of OEM and had problems with throwing fault codes or clearance issues? I am leaning toward the same size and brand that Mr. Orange reported using (Yokohama 185/60-14 front, 225/50-15 rear). Should I stay with the tire pressures that is in the owners manual?

i'm using yokohomas 175/65/14 no problems at all.also running 20psi still playing with the pressure not sure i got it right yet.also loaded the tires with ride-on for balance and protection.

TIRE PRESSURE THINGY

I went to car tires a long time ago and I was able to run less air pressure front and rear because the sidewalls are much stiffer.......So stiff in fact that you really need to use a tire guage to be sure, because visually it's almost impossible to detect if the pressure is low or not.....I don't know if that's a GOOD thing or NOT :gaah: :agree: :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:.........Mike

For what its worth, here's Teddy's experience on the subject

You'll have to play with the pressure a bit to find whats best for your machine, use and ryding style as there can be a lot differences between different ryders. As Mike stated, car tires will be much more stiffer than our OEM stockers are & finding the right PSI along with possible suspension changes will most probably need to be made by most everyone switching. I know with our switch to auto tires, Elka front shocks & BajaRons New Anti-Sway bar for the RT, it lead to a punishing ryde at first. I played with the PSI and that would give me either a stiffer/harder ryde or more of a bouncy ryde, but still way harsher than stock & I feared I had made a costly mistake. When discussing this very issue with John (of Elka Fame) at this years SpyderFest, he clued me in to a little secret. He said that his thought was, anyone that puts on one of BajaRons New Anti-Sway Bars and also have Elkas, is that they could lesson the preload on the shocks probably 2 to 3 full rotations and that would provide them with a much more compliant ryde. As soon as we got home from SpyderFest, I jacked up the front of Teds Red Sled and made the recommended adjustments to the preload, going for 3 full rotations and all I can say now is, THERE IS JOY BACK IN MUDVILLE BABY :yes: SO MUCH BETTER!!!

Also keep in mind, for us at least, with switching to the tire pictured here, being a bit wider, I had to move the electrical line that leads to the marker light on the front of the fender, as the support for it had it placed where it would rub against the new wider tire. Just had to swivel it around to the back to give proper clearance and haven't had any other issues. Good Luck & keep us all posted in your decision
