• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tires For RTs only

Actually, the 185/60 is taller and wider than stock. The stock tire sidewall is 107.25mm and the 185/60 is 111mm. So, the difference in height from the center out is 3.75mm (only 0.15 inches).
Russ

how can that be? for 185/60 = I thought the 185 mm is the width of the tire and the .60 ratio is the height ratio (ie. .60 X 185 mm width = height).

so the OEM tires in front were (I thought) 185/65 and the one he chose were 185/60. so in theory they should be the same 185 mm width, but just .60 times 185 for height versus .65 for OEM tires times 185 for height.

Ok not sure what I was thinking ...

Stock FRONT tires on RTs and RSs = 165/65 R14 47H
Stock REAR Tire on RTs and RSs = 225/50 R15 76H

===============

so the FRONT tires you chose are 20 mm wider... is there any clearance issues like others have asked?

According to micfitz, no clearance issue other than turning the wire clips attached to the inside fender support to the side so the tire doesn't rub them.

General Altimax RT 175/65-14 frts. Michelin Hydroedge 215/60-15and my wife says this combo is the best her RTs has handled yet, and they should last a long time to boot.

I'm having my rear tire changed tomorrow, (Thursday). I have 15,080 miles on my RT-S. The fronts are still fine. Tech said I had a lot of miles left on them. He actually said I had some miles still left on the rear, but because I'm headed to Cuber (said like Teddy Kennedy) at the end of April, I wanted to be on the safe side.

He said the fronts still have at least 10,000 left on them.

Yes the fronts are slightly taller much better sidewalls, less squirm in curves much more planted feel. Tread pattern should be awesome in rain and is a 70,000mi. tire, I tried to put my wife on a tire that would last but also perform in the rain as she rides everyday, also we leave in a month for the west coast then Alaska.

Matbe it was the dealer blowing smoke, but I was told that the front tires were "special low pressure" tires and regular 34 psi tires would not work.

Based on what I'm reading here it makes me wonder ??? Any truth to what I was told? :dontknow::hun:

Yes dealer sounds very SMOKEY ,My wifes RTS is a PRE PE bike, we were told she got the first RTS in Texas and alot of other states, got it on 01/05/2010 , she has 25000 mi. ,I have been experimenting with tire pressures since. We did this same thing with her Wing Trikes years ago. On the RTS ran 21psi. in her factory fronts lasted 21,000mi. handled much better than factory specs. am running same in general fronts but due to better sidewall construction she says these feel and handle better yet, running the Michelin Hydroedge 2 @ 18.5 psi looks great , this set should last a long time, running the belt @ Krikit 2 160 tension and after many adjustments finally got the belt tracking dead center , wanted it right since I dont plan on changing tires for a while. Wife rides about 25,000mi. a year this set of tires should be good for at least a couple of years.
