• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tire has gone missing

It looks like the Kumho ECASTA AST 225/50r15 is no longer available anywhere. I've looked all over the web and no one has it in stock. Even tire discount, the guys with the $81 and free shipping are out of stock.

I'm grounded, I need a new rear tire. What are my other options. I don't want something I need to change in 8k to 10k miles like the factory Kenda.

8,000 to 10,000 miles, is a pretty decent tire-life...
I've never seen more than 8,000 miles out of a rear tire; that, was on my 2010.
Take the size (225/50-15), and just do some tire research; you'll find one that'll suit you! nojoke
I tried the Falken ZE 912; I liked it; right up until it started getting worn down a bit... then, it loved to hydroplane! :yikes:

I had run 16500 miles on my last Falken and still good for another 2000 miles when I replace that tire. The best choice for tire replacement is 215-60/R15. Lot of choices in this size.

Now, I have a Michelin HydroEdge and it's a very good tire on wet or dry pavement.

KUMHO

THEY STOPPED THE MANUFACTURING OF THIS SIZE, and many others... :gaah:
I EMAILED THE
KUMHO PEOPLE LAST WEEK TO ASK THEM TO AGAIN START MANUFACTURING THIS SIZE FOR US SPYD3R RIDERS....
HAVEN'T HEARD "WORD 1" FROM THEM YET.....
KEEP LOOKING, SOME PEOPLE SAY THERE ARE STILL SOME AVAILABLE, BUT THEY ARE GETTING TO BE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN....

I just now found it on discounttiredirect.com and it did not show out of stock...

Little checking..!!

there are no end to tires used and reviewed here. Kumhos are not the only other ones. Dig a little deeper and you will find others. There was a post earlier giving you the part number for the long lasting Kendas. I got 22,000 out of mine so if you get the 2012 on back kendas you will do well...

I ordered the MAXXIS - MA-Z4S VICTRA 225/50-15 95V.. Found it for $78 and $21 shipping. I did find the Kuhmo on one site for $89 but they wanted $98.54 to ship it. :yikes:

According to another recent thread Discounttiredirect.com has a large number on backorder. Also, their EBay page shows them as having none in stock. Here is what the Maxxis looks like:

Well it looks like the MAXXIS - MA-Z4S VICTRA 225/50-15 95V has now been discontinued as well. The 225/50-15 size is quickly becoming extinct. So, I decided to make the size change and ordered the Michelin HydroEdge Radial Tire - 215/60R15 93T from Amazon.

Is anybody using general altimax hp 215/60/15 I like the tread for the rear I am thinking the same for the front 185/60/14

I have the Altimax on the front. ~6k miles and they are great. Handle very well and show no signs of wear. I run them at 22 psi.

I have the Altimax HP 185's on the front, they fit fine and handle well, using a 215/60/15 on the rear but it's a Michelin Primacy. No nanny problems and the speedometer is right on.

New tire arrived today.

Now to get it installed. I'll need to check the service manual to see how hard it's going to be to remove and replace the rear wheel from the Spyder.
