• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sorry this may get kind of long... :dontknow: The boss and I had a disagreement this morning
so I decided to take a ride alone it's not a good idea to ride when your are angry but I
decided to ride till I was no longer angry. I Ran down HWY 105 if you are not from Colo
105 is a good twisty just west of Hwy I-25 down to the Springs and through the Garden
of the GODS. Things were starting to be a little clearer and was beginning to wander why
we were so angry it was nothing just words. I stopped for lunch the clouds were building
over Pikes Peak I better head for home it's around 80 miles and in that time storms can
build quickly cog into the Springs and there was a motorcycle show going on I had to
stop not long just a quick walk. Back on the Spyder you know the one I wanted to leave
on the Train Tracks, Well I took Hwy 24 out to the ease edge of Colorado Springs
and headed North a good distance from the Mountains got to Hwy 83 another twisty
it's a fun ride but I just wanted to beat the Storm Home. Made short work of about 35 miles
of that road passed a few sunday drivers and twisted the throttle only around 9 over on
this road it's OK was clear of the traffic behind me then IT HAPPENED my Spyder shut down
I had plenty of gas but that was not it the LIMP HOME VSS and CHECK ENGINE I pulled over
and if you have gad that happen to you it;s a very slow ride all of the people I passed were
now going pass me I was riding on the very small shoulder I had 30 more miles to go before I
got home,:bdh::bdh::bdh: I am so tired of things going wrong on Sunday
and not being able to get the Spyder to the dealer till Tuesday. We are supposed to leave
for Deadwood on the 16th but if I can't trust this thin for a 115 mile ride how can I trust it
for a 460 mile ride with my GPS (wife) and trailed...:banghead::banghead: I'm thinking of the Rail Road Tracks
thanks for listening...jtpollock

RR tracks

Are looking better all the time. Did you try the reset? Key off, remove, walk away for a few? Do you leave the key in the ignition at home, in the garage? Where did we leave off last time?

Were you doing sweepers or going straight?

Had something like that happen on my GS riding back from Spyderfest once. Something about putting 'avoid traffic' in the GPS.

Excellent twisties going through Arkansas, half way through a sweeper, me in my best form, got the dreaded Limp Mode. Was two days from home so pulled over to the side of the road and did the key walk and a smoke, watching all those people I just passed go by...

After the walk, Spydee started right up like nothing was wrong. Got home with no more dramas.

Learned then and there, never underestimate the power of the Key Walk.

I was on a portion of the road that's like a gun barrels straight and flat. I only lost power it never stopped running just kept getting the VSS and Check Engine and not able to get over 48 mph. One big problem here in Colorado Dealers are closed on Mondays not sure how that compares to the rest of the world :dontknow:. My world is very limited, I do leave the key in the Spyder all the time so I will take it out when I get home after work I tried that last time did not work because I had a bad battery. jtpollock

You have lost all faith in its reliability. It will never be restored.

Time to get rid of it if you can afford to.

You bought it to enjoy it & that is not happening.

Hope everything works out for you. I'm off on a 1 week trip on mine next week & am wound as tight as a spring about its reliability.

YA still owe about a year and a half to much and if any one has been on this site and seen the problems not sure if I could give it away :dontknow: not that I would I have enjoyed it when its was running good like just before it quit. Never had any problems even pulling the trailer maybe pull the key and walk away will do the trick :dontknow: jtpollock

I hate to say this: :agree: with OldGoat... Stick a fork in that turkey; it's done... :banghead:
Trade it in; take the loss, and walk away from it.

And I am sorry that I've said this ... I just think that it's time... :banghead:

JT: You are a much more patient person than I am. I am one of those who do like the :spyder2: brand a lot.

Were I in your shoes, I would consider divesting from the one that is giving you so many and continuous issues.

In most cases 2012 and RSS make for an iron clad combination. Don't know why you hit the jackpot--in the wrong way. :dontknow:

Well I pulled the key when I got home after work left it in the house all night went out this morning to head to work put the key in and the Spyder started with no indication of anything wrong.

Nice little 40 mile ride to work no problems I will see if I can take it into the dealer on my way home :dontknow: see if there is anything they can tell me.

I started watching the Spyder when it was on the drawing board got to do a test ride of the prototypes when they came to Colorado but was not till 2012 I was able to make the purchase
of this little monster. I have to say really there have been more good times than bad it's just all of the bad have been this year :sour:.jtpollock

Oh ya thanks for the input I know there are a lot of Spyder's with a lot of miles

Let us know if the dealer finds anything... Good Luck! :2thumbs:
(Just thinking out loud: I wonder if the ECM itself, is shot?)

Maybe not shot but on it's way out :dontknow: hope not maybe nanny was just scolding me for running above the limits :opps: the devil made me do it!!!!!
ya have to be old to remember that one. :roflblack:jtpollock

I have a 2010 rt that had gone into limp mode, but the key walk does it every time.

Is there any thing that is the cause for it go into limp home ? Mine had no indication not doing anything to cause the shutdown :dontknow:. jtpollock

Most of the time there was no warning, it just went down, I'd pull over, do the key walk, get back on and go.

Are you checking for any codes when it goes into limp mode? There is a procedure to follow that will list the codes that triggered the limp mode (but once the Limp Mode light goes out, they are cleared from the memory I've been told)... the codes may indicate why it's going into Limp Mode.
