To Tilt or not?

Hope you can use the link below. Tilting Motorworks have come up with a tilting kit for HD....pretty cool looking. I wonder how long before Can Am comes out with a tilting Spyder?

Actually Piaggio has had a tilting three wheel scooter on the market for several years and they sell like hot cakes in Europe. It tilts when in motion and locks to prevent tilting when stopped. Utilizes twin trailing arm suspension in front with ABS and traction control. We had considered one prior to buying our SPYDER. But, the SPYDER won hands down for our tastes and needs. More choices for more people is a very good thing.

Just exactly what are you referring to that I dont know?? Im pretty sure my statement was very clear. So perhaps you should be.

Ive seen enough of the polls as to who are riding Spyders because they can no longer ride two wheelers so I am EXTREMELY comfortable with the exact wording of my statement which presumes nothing

It seems that it has wide/flat bottom "Car" like tires, but would be odd feeling to take turns tilted low and still have to keep pulling the handlebar to the inside of the turn...

It's like everything else... Personal taste. I like my Spyder the way it is made and left a two wheeler simply because riding the Spyder is fun and I love them. I can ride anything but choose the F3-S. So if they lean and you love it go for it or enjoy the way it is. If it ever happens of course.:thumbup::thumbup:

I agree Bob. Having been in the business, I had clients that would acquire or hold patents that were either strategic or complementary in nature. At one point it was estimated that more than 80% of developed and patented technologies never see the light of day.

Had the cash in my hot little hand to purchase a barely used Piaggio 250cc but chickened out due to the small size of the engine. (and yes I did know they made 400cc & 500cc versions but the larger the engine the less the leg room)

I would love to have a tilting Harley like the one in the OP's post but afraid the sticker shock would be too much. Maybe $20,000 for the bike + $15,000 conversion and then x1.3 or 1.4 for us Canadians.

Love my Spyder but a tilting one would be great. At approaching 77 & bad knees a 2 wheeler is no longer for me. I really miss leaning & cornering on 2 wheels, even though I was not that good at it.

The tilting Yamaha 3 wheeler others have posted about on the site is what i think shows real promise and could be fun. Id love to be able to test one out. I dont want anything harley to be honest, too over priced and under reliable.

My statements are direct theres less mistakes made then about assumptions. I dont think I have made an assumption.


You tell me what you think the inference means and I'll tell you if its true but as a member of the disabled riders group myself I'll tell you its not for ****s and giggles I cant arrest the fall of a bike yet I like to lean and having experienced both leaning on a Piaggio for example is a doddle and damn fun and easier to ride and lean than a two wheeler. Someone is asking about the future of spyders and saying will there be a leaning one?.

IMHO Theres no point knocking conversation about a now obvious future on the head. I think Can Am will buy into leaning the minute there is a standout competitor in the market place. Thats my view of when they will leap.

Did you see Honda's tilting trike "Mock Up" (Im sure it rides Im not sure it performs how they want yet)

Its I guess I think in the US the naked version of the Gold Wing was called the Valkyrie? Or was that a Yamaha in the 80's? Or both?? lol

Called the Honda Neowing it looks balls out!
