Tilting kit for HD...future for Spyders?

Merry Christmas. This has been around for awhile and here on Spyderlovers a couple of times. Like the idea. The consensus among the masses is that it probably not going to happen on the Spyder.

I don't know if I'd get excited over a tilting Harley, it would start out over priced, I think more so that the Spyder. But, I would be interested in that tilting trike idea. Only time will tell. That shows it is doable.

Hope not...!!

Seen this one before. Just feel if it tilts let's go back to two Wheelers cause they tilt the best...

Yet to prove if the tilting will help or hurt the "Y" footprint stability design. Need mythbuster testing :)

Probably not likely

Hope you can use the link below. Tilting Motorworks have come up with a tilting kit for HD....pretty cool looking. I wonder how long before Can Am comes out with a tilting Spyder?

BRP has put a lot of time, money, effort and design into the current platform. The stability and reliability that have been built into the current Spyder line would possibly be compromised. I'm sorry, but I have to ask " did you just bring this up to get a rise out of people?"

So, do you....

So, do you counter-steer this kind of machine?
It seems that it has wide/flat bottom "Car" like tires, but would be odd feeling to take turns tilted low and still have to keep pulling the handlebar to the inside of the turn...

The Tilting Motorworks kit is a $10,000 add on. I am wondering if it would void the warranty or cause dealers to refuse to service the bike--like some others.

I think that if you want a "leaner"; stick with two wheels... They do it best!

It can be pretty short sighted to say if you want to lean stick to two wheels one one of the reasons for owning a Spyder is you can no longer hold a two wheeler up. :lecturef_smilie:

Also people who think that Can Am would never do it better had check the patent database as to how many leaning 3 wheeler patents they have actually lodged, seems a lo more than just CYA style patenting, they actually seem to have close to a design for the road.

MANY companies hold patents on technologies and designs that they have no interest in.
Why?
Sometimes; to simply "box-in" their competition.

:lecturef_smilie: Don't presume; what you don't in fact know... :lecturef_smilie:

Just exactly what are you referring to that I dont know?? Im pretty sure my statement was very clear. So perhaps you should be.

Ive seen enough of the polls as to who are riding Spyders because they can no longer ride two wheelers so I am EXTREMELY comfortable with the exact wording of my statement which presumes nothing

Yes Ive already made the comment about covering their ass maybe you dont recognise the acronym, CYA
Perhaps you should familiarise yourself with them to see if these patents actually are to box people in or to protect their production methods or non mechanical systems.

I assume you know the difference and I'll leave you to find out if they are production ready to go the moment they have a competitor in the leaning space but just are not pulling the trigger because it only takes money out of the Spyders pocket, which is another reason not to make a leaner for now.

So true for me

I have problems with balance related to diabetes, along with some muscle control in the legs. Love my Spyder, but miss my Valkyrie.

The leaning kit looks interesting.
