Thunder Beach Panama City, FL

I have the dates for the fall Rally Sept 30th to Oct 3rd. Tami looked it up on the computer typing in Panama City Fall Thunder Beach 2010, on google.

I hope this doesn't hamper your other activities and Lamont's BBQ.

Thanks Brian! I will have to make a note of that and see what happens. I was told by someone very close to me "You know you can't attend every event there is". :(

Best of luck trying to get your pictures. Hopefully your generosity will pay off some too, and Tami may just win one of the Harleys.

You didn't happen to find out who the other Spyder owner was did you?

Keep having a good time, and ryde safe with all those others around.

Tami called and told me to put all on one Harley that would fit her. Unfortunately, we never made it to Pier Park and after waiting for Sam for about 4 hours I called him at around 10 pm. and said, now both his sons were tired, he wanted to spend the night with them, since they are going home to Birmingham Ala. in the morning. He said they are still talking about the ryde on the Spyder and will for a long time and both thanked me for the thrill. They wanted to go for a ryde on it the 1st time they saw it and now both Ryan and Dylan want one of their own. I told Sam to tell them to start saving now and he laughed.

I decided to go out by myself and figured since I was out, I might as well head to Walmart and get new guts for my toilet. It was crazy out there with guys racing and thousands bikes around. Thank gawd for earplugs cause it was loud and I can see a lot these guys having hearing problems in the future.

Before leaving I saw Tami's car in the driveway and told her we never made it to Pier Park to get the raffles. I gave her her money back, with extra from me and she had a good day working a double and will just add to it and her chances. This way she gets to pickout the Harley she wants to try to win.

The Parking lot was so jammed with bikes and people, that I don't know who owned the Yellow Spyder. I've seen a yellow one around here and heard from people that live near this guy, that he has a one like mine but it's yellow. I could only guess that it was him. The people I've talked to in store parking lots say he lives off of N.Lagoon, which is on the other side from me. One day, I'm sure to run into him and will tell him about this site.

Checking the map, I'm the only one listed for PCB. As for having a good time? I'm having a blast and many of the people I have talked to have been great. I've been getting a lot of questions from older and younger ryders and I tell them, that many who have two wheelers also, enjoy riding their Spyder's more and their two wheeler's are collecting dust in there garages. One demo ryde and your hooked.

On the way home, I was behind this girl on a Harley trike and at every bump and dip in the road, I saw her rear end not hers :roflblack: but the bikes, shimmy and one of the rear wheels come off the road. A truck passed me on the right and looking there was no one else, so went by her and either her husband or b/f on a Honda Gold Wing, towing a trailer.

It looked rally loose to me and I was hoping they didn't have far to go. I pulled into Sam's condo and saw the ryders I guided to Newbies and to the condos. They were leaving Sunday and said they really had a great time and will be back. They said everyone was so great, that the memories they have along with the pictures they took will last for a longtime. They also said the weather wasn't that bad even with the wind and Sat and it's going to be hard to leave.

I told them the night I got off the plane for my first visit here, I knew I would be living here. They said they understood completely. The time here went by so fast and to think on Monday we wil be getting up to go to work.:gaah: I said what an awful thought! But, we will be telling our friends of all the great people we met and hopefully while planning our next trip to Thunder Beach, more of our friends will come along with us. I told them a picture is worth a 1000 words and let them do the talking for you.

Ron, who asked me if I knew how to get to Ms. Newbies from here? Said they aren't going to believe that place and by the way! Carol, took pictures of you and your Spyder, when we were following you and more in the parking lot, when you were answering all those questions.

I told Ron that answering questions about the Spyder is common among all that own one and many have to add in time to answer the questions wherever they go. The ads help but, it's the ryder that really knows what's under them and why they decided to buy one.

Me? I just went to look and the next thing I knew, I was signing the papers. After 32 years of being on the outside looking in, ryding never got out of my system. I have no regrets doing what I did, that mid Mar. day. Sure I'm a poorer but for me as soon as I saw one I had to buy it

It's too bad you can't go to them all.

Maybe one year you will!

Great stories about meeting people and enjoying the event. Many times people that live in the areas where the events take place can't stand it when they come to town. This will be the situation when we go to Myrtle Beach in a couple of weeks, the city of MB does not want the bike traffic within the city limits at all. To the point they have a mandatory helmet ordinance, even though the state law says helmets are optional. :dontknow:

Hopefully I will be able to make it down there to meet you sometime. I still need to find some new places to go in my never ending quest for that money tree.

Michael, I spoke to soon in the PM I sent, it's pouring here now but at least I wasn't on the Spyder and wasn't going out this morning anyways.

I'm willing to bet that many, that don't wear helmets will go without a helmet just to challenge the city law against the state law. Many don't like to be bullied into anything and I'm one of them. I'm like you wear a helmet all the time on the Spyder and always did going back to 15 years old. But those that don't, it's their head and brain and the choice they make is their own.

Mark used to say that FL was a great place to live and grow up until the yankess started moving in and once they did, they tried to change how we lived here. That didn't work well and were told, if you want this law or that law, go back to where you came from.

For 5 years he called me a D??? Yankee and the day after my 5th year, he said I can no longer call my best friend and brother a d???? yankee because now, you are officially a Floridian.

Michael, I do believe that this happens in a lot of the resort towns. Yankee's make there money and because of high taxes and being taxed on everything they own, when they retire they move south to a quiet place with low to no taxes and also bring along the laws and rules they lived with for so many years. They get elected to city counsels and now they can push what their agenda's on those that lived there for generations.

They don't like what they see and want to change it and often succeed, like in MB.

What I found out here that the bikers that came here just wanted to meet old friends and make new friends. The locals here greeted all with open arms and truthfully I didn't hear one complaint from a local here. I did about the charging extra for parking each vehicle at condos but who gets hurt. The owner of the condo and eventually the condo complex.

Like I said if I had known, some could have parked their trailers and trucks in my yard for nothing and probibly get a meal out of it too. It wouldn't be the first time.

One thing! It sure is quiet here and now I'm really looking forward to the Fall Thunder Beach Rally and I hope those condo complexes that charged extra, pay big time. One thing about bike rally's or any event, news travels quickly. :chat:

Next big weekend here, Memorial Day Weekend and I wonder will these few condo's charge extra again?

You would think when an event brings millions of dollars into the local economy, most everyone would be happy about it. In this case it appears the 1 week had actually turned into almost the entire month of May, and some bad apples created problems as well. Oh well, my wife already made all the arrangements so I will be going to Myrtle Beach.

Sorry about the rain, we got it here all day as well but still no where near as bad as Tennessee.

They had so much trouble here during spring break, that they almost voted to shut it down but, even though many of the business owners complained they decided to make it harder to get permits for BET, MTV or whoever wants to come in and have a concert.

Why did they decided to go this way and also put more patrols on the streets? The money spring break brings in. In year past spring break drove the snowbirds back home cause after raising kids, the last place they want to be is around a few thousand of them each week.

This past spring break, I couldn't wait for it to end and in the past years living here, I always looked forward to the crazyness and off the wall things that went on here. Everyone was having fun but, hearing sirens every hour of the day and night, I knew something bad was going down and it was a totally different kind of crowd here this year.

Thunder Beach they have twice a year here why? Cause most are responsible and in the fall it's the last big blast of coin coming in to hold over til spring break. Every weekend brings in out of staters, who have a place here or just want to get away from the normal lifestyle and cut loose for a couple of days. Hollidays to the crowds come in during the off season and most of the restaurants are closed but, may open on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

But the big weeks start during spring break, than it quiet again and than BOOM! is the spring time Thunder Beach and the roar of engines from early morning til everyone goes home at the end of the week. You'd love it as I do and want to be out in 24 hours a day and many are.

There are times when the house starts to rattle and the dog goes under the bed. 50 Hogs roaring down the road and I'd hate to live on the main road. Imagine having to wear earplugs 24 hours a day? Where's the remote is the sound working on the tv?:roflblack:

But those that live there never complain and many sit out in front of there homes watching the parade of bikes going by. Than here comes another group on the scooters and now the TV is to loud, even with the earplugs and no one knows where the remote is. :roflblack:

Yea its unreal and I never got to enjoy it until I got the :spyder: and got off the sideline.

Every party has to have a pooper. :D

I wonder if I will be the same way when I get older, or will I still be tolerant of all the young people's shenanigans. :dontknow:

I've always been easy going and never let much get to me, except if one is going to take advantage, than I won't put up with it. I don't give people a hard time and I won't take it. I treat people the way I want to be treated.

My brother's are the same way and my brother Bruce had this cherry '55 Chevy Bel Air, that he bought from my grandmother. His wife decided to go to the movies while he was at work and while in the movies, this other guy in a classic 54 Chevy, pulls up inches away from the drivers side door. His buddy does the same on the other side, so now my sister in law can't get in the car and get home.

Driving by I see my sister in law waving and I stop. She shows me whats going on and I asked the guy to move. He laughs and tells me to go :cus: :cus:. I said okay you want to play games? Lets play! :yikes:

I go to my trunk and pull out a pipe, than I go back to this guy in the '54 chevy. I'm standing just to the left of this guys left front bumper and said, how much do you think you will spend for a new headlight to fit this car, if you can find one? He said why? I said cause if you and your buddy don't move your cars away from my brother's '55, in 10 seconds I gonna start busting headlights along with parking and tail lights and if you try to get out, I'm gonna start busting windows on this '54, until I get to you. Now do you still want to play?

The guys start their engines to move and I said put one scratch on this '55, I'm coming after you in my clunker.:D

That was the last time my sister in law took the '55 to the movies. My brother found out and got her a vehicle she could drive, that no one would mess with. A 1960 Landrover, with a plow on the front. It drove and rode like a tank!:roflblack::roflblack:

I don't mess with anyone's property but, mess with mine and your messin with me.

Take that American Express commercial, where you never want to leave home without it. I'm the sameway except it's not an American express. It's either a 1911, 9 mm or a .45 cal semi auto.:dontknow:

That sounds like one of the patches on Harley friend's jacket.

Don't start any crap
There will be no crap

Have fun ryding, and stay safe out there.

I like that quote and would like to put that patch on my leather vest.:D:thumbup:

I always have fun ryding and will be without Sam for awhile. He had surgery again on his rotator cuff and it was worse than the first surgery. Knowing him he will not try to ride after two weeks but, he might after 3 weeks.

Saw Tami at the store and she is going to be his nurse, til he's able to get around more on his own. She gives him a pain pill and than goes down to the pool, while Sam is sleeping.

Ryde safe yourselves and be careful.

Tell Sam I wish him the best for a speedy recovery.

I have needed surgery on my shoulder for a few years now, but have refused to have it done because of the stories like his I have heard. So what if I can't throw a baseball or hammer over top of my head. I don't think I am missing out on too much. :D

Tami sounds like she has a very good plan as well.

I'll give him the message, when I see him. No sense in doing that knowing he is zonked out on pain killers. I did the samething after gallbladder surgery. Was awake long enough to eat, drink something than take another pill and go back to bed. Did that for 4 days and stopped taking the pills.

I also hurt my left shoulder lifting marine battery's up onto my boat. The only time it bother's me is when I'm working out and as for hammering? I told Mark, I'm like lightening with a hammer and nail. He said great! You can help me with the framing of the new addition. I said hold on you didn't let me finish! I never hit the same place twice unless it's my fingers or thumb.:roflblack::roflblack:

He laughed hard and I told him, I'd be right back. I went to Home Depot and bought him a nail gun. The previous owner left his compressor he used to fill his diving tanks. I told him this will speed up your framing and everything else you would do with a hammer. Everytime the nail gun came out, I disappeared. Being shot with a nail, just didn't appeal to me.:yikes:

When Tami moved here, she took over the nail gun and I went to the marina, a few miles away to do some work on my boat. It was a safe place to escape to and the little work, turned into a long nap.

I see you follow the rule of being better safe than sorry, and it is always a good time when you can get away from work. :D

I'm no carpenter and believe me, they were better off without me. That addition would not be square if I was involved. You ought to see how I fixed the fence out back, that was falling down.:roflblack:

It's not my fence and belongs to the people who own the property behind me, but no one has seen them in years. I did what I could with what I had and at least the dogs can't get out, for now. About 24' of that fence is coming down and the only thing holding it up is the 4 or 5 boards I used to fill the holes, using deck screws.:roflblack:

I'd love to put up a new one but just can't find the time. I got a lot of ryding to do instead. After a night time ryde I'll sit outside while the dog plays and watch the weeds grow, while the exhaust cools, so I can cover the Spyder.:D
