Throttlemeister...great product, great company...

A little story to tell...

I have had a throttlemeister (TM) for about a year now...was installed at my dealership perfectly!

A few months ago when I had the update done and ESI's handlebar risers put on (and I love them...if you don't have them...get them!), the tech must've had to take out the TM and reinsert it...

Anyway, it didn't work properly from that time on...just wouldn't hold the throttle anymore! I figured I'd get used to it but simply put, it wasn't working...as I later found out, the brass ring (the part that moves and creates the friction on the throttle) was pulled out and not working...duh...the tech did something...:yikes:

I called Throttlemeister and spoke with Fred. Once he helped me get the TM off of the bike (was really on there tight), I sent it back...he fixed the O rings, gave me a new bolt, and cleaned it up...there was apparently a lot of locktite (sp?) on it from the tech...

I got it back last week and Fred helped me install it today (pretty easy to do, actually).

Just wanna give a shoutout for a good guy at a good company. I know there are plenty of options out there for mechanical cruise options, but the throttlemeister is a really great device and they stand behind their product. I am very happy with how I was treated and am very grateful to Fred. I recommend their products.

I have a set too.

Yup, the Throttlemeisters are a quality product. The quality of materials, milling, and design are exceptional. They are one of those products when you pick it up, the heft/weight is surprising.

I thought the install (on a set of ESI/NMN Risers) was on the difficult side. They took a lot of force to get them in - the throttle one especially, it required the application of a 2X4. But they work like magic.

I'm not a fan of cruise control on motorcycles and I have only used it a few times, but I do like how they work, very easy and effective. The only other downside was that they did/do get in my mirrors field of vision. I've adjusted, but it was a surprise how much the occluded the view. (stock mirrors, no extensions)

I got a great deal on my set from a guy who was selling his Spyder. After having them, even considering how little I use them, I would buy them at regular price.

:agree:

I love my TM---- Scotty turned me on to them some time ago. Didn't have to use a 2x4 to install mine!

The instructions could be a bit better--- but once you install them once it's easy from then on.

Great products - well made. Talked to Fred before my purchase ---- very helpful.

My wife has the TM on her Spyder and absolutely loves it. I opted for the BRP anti-vibe bars that I got a great deal on, but may end up changing my mind later, especially if we start going on much longer rides.

I love my TM also! It is a great product with excellent quality. Highly recommend one. :2thumbs:

I went with the smaller version.

Don't leave home without it.

I am a short guy and don't have the muscles you do, but I have found a 2X4 is a great equalizer in all sorts of situations.

I think I got that idea from Atadude in one of his "How To" mod postings. It is amazing all the things we learn from each other here. :D

The instructions are not 100% clear but Fred made the process so simple that even I could do it! ;)

The key is getting the TM on enough so that the throttle moves freely when the TM is off, but about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn will lock it for you.

The tech did something such that it would not tighten at all...the O rings were damaged as was the brass pressure turn...Fred fixed it all so now all is good.

I did use hammer (put felt around it) to make sure the TM was on properly...from there, tightened up, then unbolted, locktite on the end of the bolt, and then screwed all the way back in...works perfectly now!

Adjustments to the TM are quite easy.

I used to need the end weight to dampen the vibration, but ESI's risers really kill most of the vibration anyway...the TM just helps out that much more...

I like the look of the TM as well..I have the smaller size...wasn't sure if the heavier one would stick out too far...

Mine are bigger than yours?! :yikes:

By the way, with the 2X4, when they went on, they were perfect and required no adjustments. They were good to go after the last whack.
