• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Throttle body

So my dealer changed the throttle body on my 2011 RT and from what I am reading around here this is not an isolated problem... Could someone explain what is really the problem and how the fix from 2010 to 2011 seems to have made it worst?
thanks
Philippe

The 2010 RT had a problem of being hard to start after the engine is heat saturated. To correct this in the 2011 RT BRP added software to hold the throttle body closed for approx. 40 minutes. This fixed the hard start problem but created another issue with failed throttle bodies due to holding the throttle body closed to tightly. Updated software corrected the problem but many throttle bodies failed before BRP got the updated software out.

...And I've got a P1614 code staring me in the face right now... Next Tuesday my 2010 hits the shop...

Hey Bob, hang in there, just got my 2011 RT LTD back 2 days ago after 5 days in shop from P1614. Taking my first road trip tomorrow.

" Updated software corrected the problem but many throttle bodies failed before BRP got the updated software out. "

I got mine updated the day after the word came out on this forum, (2011-7?), and so did my buddy, each done by a diff dealer, and both throttle bodies failed some time afterwards, and been replaced.

Makes me think we haven't seen the end of this problem.

I had the throttle body update done on my 2011 RTS, but after 2 days the throttle body started acting up and threw code P1614. I brought the Spyder in to my dealer, they had it for a week and said they fixed the problem. The next morning I went out to start my Spyder and the same thing happened again. It went back to the dealer, and now they have to replace the Throttle body. They said it was back ordered do to the demand, so now I will be waiting about a week and a half for them to get the part!:(

OK my 2011 RT S just went back in for it's second throttle body replace, I go out on Thursday Oct. 13 to start my Spyder and all it will do is turn over the motor not even a hint of trying to start. Put it on a battery charger just in the off chance the battery is low and not enough power to kick the motor to life ,after charging all day wait till Friday morning Oct.14 to try and start it again same thing motor turns over but does not try to start. Call my Dealer and advise them to bring a trailer to pick it up and transport it to their shop about 4 or 5 miles away, Service manager agrees and picks bike up and takes it back to the shop later that afternoon receive a call and service manager advises that due to codes bike is showing and after calling BRP they advise him to again replace the throttle body. because of this throttle body problem I will have been without my bike for a miniumin of 15 days while the dealer tries to fix the problem with replacing throttle bodies. Sorry for the long rant.

This love hate relationship I have with my Spyder is like having a cheating wife that is doing you wrong you know what she is doing but you love her any way!

Had the firmware upgrade done on my '11 RT done on July 18 @ 1,666 miles.

Now the Spyder has 6,000 plus miles on it and I have not seen nor heard any problems.

Just trying to provide some good news balance to this thread.

OK latest update on my Throttle body issue, Shop just completed installing throttle body number three if you count the one that came on my RT S as #one now I have had two more installed, problem with the TPS or throttle position sensor. Bike now seems to run better than ever.
