There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Throttle body replacement

effgjamis

Ride Forrest Ride!
Well as lucky as I have been, I have had the throttle body, which was replaced in Salt Lake City while on the Spyder Triangle in late Aug/early Sept, this year and now replaced by westCoastPowerSports in Clearwater in November.
I went in for a service and left with Doc and Paul to run some errands and upon my return approx 3:30PM I found that the service I rode over for was not done, but instead they worked all day replaceing my throttle body as it failed when they were taking the spyder in the shop for service..

My thanks go to Ben and Brent for going ahead and resolving the issue so that I amy ride back to Kissimmee that evening.

I also have to thank Mgmt and staff at Westcoast for there continued customer support. I wish to also thank BRP for giving fast approval for the throttle body replacement. Yes, I was lucky indeed, Brent had the foresight in having a throttle body on the shelf with Shawn and Ben's approval.

I now have to return to finish my service on Nov 17th.

Welcome to the club!

Mine has had to be done twice also. I AM HOPING IT WILL NOT NEED IT EVER AGAIN! At least it is under warranty it is a $1300 part from what I know.

Note to myself: RT's need 2 throttle bodies, RS's 3 engines. :read:;)

First time I haven't been able to ride it home

Took my '11 RT in for the 9,000 mile service on Thursday evening planning to pick it up today after lunch.

Service department called to tell me that the Spyder thew a code indicating Throttle body problems. They now have it disassembled and must get in touch with Can Am about a replacement.

Looks like I will not be riding this weekend and maybe not even next week.

I've read about people losing their machines for long periods. It's already been too long for me!

Well if a piece has to fail; the best place for it to happen would be at the dealer's... While they're monkeying around with the bike!
(IMHO)

Had my Spyder in for 3k two days ago and was told it also showed a TB error. Service told me they had also done the recall work last Sept and were now waiting advice from factory. What should I do if they tell me they will do nothing at this time!

I think you shouldn't worry too much in advance,
The factory will just tell your dealer to replace it again.

Question, do they physically change out the whole throttle body or do a computer reprogram? My dealer tells me they don't replace anything just a reprogram on the buds.:dontknow:

If there are no throttle body fault codes in BUDS, they merely reprogram the ECM. If certain throttle body related fault codes appear, the service bulletin calls for throttle body replacement as well.

Thanks for the info.

I have a 2011 RT Limited and I have had to have my throttle body replaced twice. I hope I will not have to have it replaced any more.

Replacement??

Just wondering about replacement of throttle body, are only the 2011 models affected? When you mention replacement, do mean reprogramming or complete replacement? Why would they replace if so? It doesn't sound good for owners!

Ryde budy from Tampa replaced on his 2010 RT 4 (four) TB's...WWRecord.

Mine is a 2010. After ryding to Glacier National Park the dreaded fault code, P1614, came up. The dealer in Kalispell (excellent service, by the way) said only a part - the throttle position sensor - needed to be replaced, but since that part was on backorder they replaced the entire throttle body.

Mine is a 2010 RT and the TB had to be replaced at 24000 miles. Also the rear bearing assembly.:dontknow:

All this information is good to know.

Called the dealer yesterday to see what is going on with my Spyder's throttle body problem and was told that Can Am hasn't called them back yet.

Going up to the mid sixties here this week and I want to ride!!!!

All Models

So from what I read all RT's are having issues with the throttle bodies!! I do hope BRP gets a fix before I have a problem. My 2010 RT has had no problems except my rear shock (4 replacements)
