• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Thoughts on dealer computer (BUDS) use after self oil change

Just changed the oil on my 2016 RT SM6 at 3000 miles. Was thinking of going to the dealer and have them hook up to BUDS and reset the oil change mileage, check and clear codes, upload any new downloads, check all systems, etc. Just wondering if any one has done this after they changed the oil or not worth it. Opinions appreciated.

WHAT YOU ASKED

:hun:, This is news to me ...never heard of it ..... Annnnnnnd I advise you to ask if the BUDS reading is FREE .... I' doubt it ..... good luck .... Mike

I stopped by the Can Am dealer in Albuquerque last June to have a new tire installed and can tell you they are a first class dealer. I was on the road and they got me in and out quickly . Charged me half price for the tire. Total cost was $213 installed and balanced. It was an OEM but it did get me home. Good people......

Let's see....

I have always found it wise to let a dealer do the first service. This would include all your asking and more. You do save the oil change part now that you have already done that...

We changed the oil on my new F3T but it is going to the shop for the balance of the 1st service. Keep your receipts and good records of your oil changes, etc for warranty purposes.

Since you asked for opinions, here's mine! I do all my own maintenance and installed every farkel known to man. I also have a BUDS setup. Even after numerous disassembles and all my upgrades, BUDS found nothing wrong. Also, for my 15RTL there are as yet no software upgrades to perform.

I didn't know there was a reset oil change mileage used on BUDS?? :dontknow:

According to a You Tube video on changing oil on a 1330 RT done by Shawn Smoak, a mechanic. In part two he resets the service mileage using BUDS, and shows all the other features available. Its a very comprehensive video. Very well done and he gives the do's and don't's.

Like Jetfixer, I have a BUDS system. I've only had to use it a few times. Brake bleeding and syncing the Throttle Body. I don't bother resetting the service counter. It's not going to predict future problems. Most failure will show up with the orange screen. Unless you are really capable of doing in depth trouble shooting or just anal about details, don't worry about it.
