Thoughts about tunes on the Spyder

So I spent a good part of my Saturday installing an AMP, radio all the wiriing run perfectly and tucked just so. Installed 5 1/4 speakers on my dash with 4" PVC end caps sprayed black.(These came out amazing). Sounds really really really good in the driveway. And very good cruizing thru town, but when I'm tooling down the road, it seems more like noise with some words more than quality... That's ok too. Its a good distraction to hear tunes, but I find it not the quality I'm so looking for and probably won't find unless I have Ear Buds. I'm an Audiofile nut and have Top of the line set ups in both my car and home....

So this is just an observation and a good read that I wanted to share with my Spyder friends... Although I'm generally happy with the set up on my 08 RS, it is what it is, Worth doing??? Ya I think it was.... and I'm sorry I don't have pics to post, I will post some later but if anyone wants to know how I did all of this I will share.... Just having my Spyder apart, sun was out and working on my bike was half the fun....

Can you Bluetooth through a headset. We have a Sena set, no wires great sound, gps, intercom, etc.

i installed my stereo three years ago,it has evolved a bit since then. works great though. i can hear it at 70 mph. can u post some pics of your system? i'm always interested in other ideas. :thumbup:

Ya Coz, its very similar to yours.... I might be over explaning my wants for sound... I would love to have the wind blowing by my head and ears and still have the tunes similar to an earbud.(not going to happen) But I still like it allot. I have some nice Kicker speakers coming from Crutchfield this week. I might port in a 6 or 8" sub facing me just to give it a bit more depth. I don't expect to hear to much thump and that's ok. I really wish I could hear someones JL Audio with the Sub installed to hear if that sound is what I'm looking for... If it is I might pull the trigger.

Is the sound comparable to say the earbuds you get with your iphone??

here s what i had on my 2010 rs and then put it on my hog,it worked good but only up to 60 mph,then faster could not hear it.shark 200 wt 85 dollars.:chat:

The sound quality and volume are great, easy to set up. I hear my music, she hears her music. She don't care for classic rock.

Added pictures to the Thread

Here are my pics. the first one is with the Shark speakers that I took off. They were ok, but not what I was looking for. then added PVC end caps that housed a 5 1/4 speaker perfectly. I installed to very low budget speakers while awaiting the arrival of some really nice Kicker's from Crutchfield. I still have to drill some air holes on the back side to allow air to pass thru and it to will give a bit more low end.... I do like them and I will continue to evolve this.

my 51/4 speakers had the same type of mounting tabs. i just cut them off with a tinsnip, then glued the covers on with black silicone. are you putting covers on yours?
