There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I just purchased a new Akrapovic exhaust the other day and decided to install it myself. Well after finally getting the stock one off, (I had to finally cut the bolts off) I picked up the AK Silencer and started to lower it and...... FUMBLE!!!!! It hit the floor and needless to say, I now have a damaged tip. I went ahead and finished the install.
The next morning I called the dealer, and BRP and they do not have a replacement tip or repair kit for carbon Fiber. Ive been on line trying to find a service number for Akrapovic and have not found one yet. The tip got a small hole on the top edge of the tip and the edge is starting to crack open. Any Ideas?? I am now thinking of using High temp silicone. They also have a muffler wrap for Motorcycle exhausts that a lot of Harley riders use to black out their bikes. What I was hoping for is a new tip. For being the Top Shelf best of the best Silencer, you would think they would at least have a customer service number.

carbon fiber.

Hi
Not sure if this might help but check with west system people (they sell lots of epoxies , carbon fiber tape I believe )marine industry , also pos speed shops .
Good luck Jody k

As mentioned, get a two part epoxy repair kit. West Systems is one made for boats and you can get it at west marine.

But better yet, you can also go to a RC hobby store (not a toy store) and get 2 part epoxy and find all different kids of thickness of fiberglass cloth. Even carbon fiber cloth!

FYI most carbon fiber parts are laid up with 2 part epoxies.

Try this..!!

JB Weld...we used it a lot, dark grey would be close match. Will work well till you get a new tip...

Do you have any pics? Hard to totally asses how bad the damage is without seeing it.
West systems is fantastic stuff.
I would bet making the repair blend aesthetically is going to be your challenge.

Yes especially if you have not worked with 2 part epoxy and fiberglass before!

So test on a few things before actually going at it.

Also agree a picture would be good. Some of us that know how to repair fiberglass or carbon fiber might give you better advise as to how to repair it.

Shure, I can do that, I did cover the damage with the caulking. Is it pretty, um no, but maybe I will start a new roughed out Can Am look.
I just went out there and removed the baffolds. The new sound is amazing! I feel better now

Yea so that is very cosmetic. You wont get it looking new. Best bet is to get a new cap if you can.

But if you were to try (nothing to loose now), wet sand the area with 600 grit and then 1000. This may clean it up enough to reshow the carbon fiber pattern again.

Then just use a 2 part epoxy and brush it on. If you can thin the epoxy do so. Wet sand again and apply one more coat of epoxy, wet sand with 1000 lightly and polish.

You will probably not get it looking new but it wont looks as bad as that.

Oof! Yea, your issue with repairing that is going to be aesthetic.
If you can't source a replacement cap I'd talk to a few local body shops, but your likely not going to like the cost. If your looking for DIY you could always cut out a CF patch and epoxy it over the top, but its still not going to be pretty. Maybe do a patch epoxy/cf repair, sand the cap, and paint it black???
That sucks...
Good luck!

Sounds like good advice, What you see on the pic is very rough and can be cleaned up some. Or I can probablly remove it and start over. For now I got that on to keep it from getting worse. Its a High temp silicone for making your own gaskets that I happened to have in my tool box.

Well, I havent heard from Acrapovic But, I did find a muffler guy that does this kind of work. I showed him the pic and he said he can restore it like new for 100 bucks.

Hoping to read that it turned out well for you! Just had a Sport Touring delivered for my RT LTD with plans to install it myself. Which brings me to the question of. Any luck with the repair? Was it an easy install for you? Any special tools needed beside a torque wrench? Why did you need to cut the bolts off and which one s were they? What if any would you do different next time?
