thinking about buying a used spyder 2008-13

I am thinking about purchasing a used spyder 2008-13. Any advise on which model years are best overall would be greatly appreciated.

Too many thinkers and not enough doers....:roflblack: your good with any year in the sports models (RS, RSS, GS) the touring ones (RT ) best are 11's on up.

If you can find one that still has extended warranty left on it that would be a bonus. I'd stay away from 13 RT and ST.

I've had a 2012 RT for a little over a year and I love it, and so does my wife. Just watch the 2013's to make sure they have had the heat update.

Our 2008 has been very reliable all this time. What kind are you looking for RS or RT? RT has built in luggage capacity, RS is a bit sportier but luggage will be aftermarket.

2012 is considered the best year for the 998 RT.
2014 and above 1330 triples are all good.

My first Spyder was a new '09, RS SE5, (my yellow jacket). I loved the sporty feel but ended up inventing the Seal Floorboard so I could sit in a more comfortable position. My next was a 2011 RT SE5 and loved that also. Now I felt safe carrying a passenger. Also invented the RT SE5 DLX
to give me more leg and foot movement. You can see them both, tricked out, on my website. Both Spyders proved to be very reliable and I couldn't have been happier until I bought my 2014 RT SE6 basic model so I could use my Seal Floorboards. They are twice as big and half the price of the BRP floorboard.

You haven't mentioned what type of riding you're in to.
The GS/RS model is the sportiest...
The RTs are the "Touriest"
Everything else falls in between...
This'll give you an idea as to the riding posture of each...

Let us know what interests you the most, and you'll get at least 50 opinions...

he is right depends on what kind of riding you want to do. And i think the riding position of hte RS show above is an understatement. i was leaned a lot more forward (im fairly short) than the picture shows. I could not figure out why they wanted a super sport riding position on these things, made no sense. I put on risers and that helped but still wasnt great. With my new RT its way more comfortable a ride and if you going to be taking passenger a lot is the way to go. If your going RS there not been a lot of changes to it. If you are getting an RT i would suggest saving up for 2014 and up as they have the new engine which has more power and more importantly requires a LOT less service/maintenance.

probably 5'5" Anyway the point is at least sit on each, unless your going for the RT in which case you know its going to be as comfortable as it gets for a spyder. The F3 has the cool Ufit thing where you can move the pegs and bars a bit but still dont think its as comfy as the RT and the back seat sucks in comparison to pretty much all the other models.

Agreed, nothing comes close to being as comfortable as the RT for the passenger. I felt cramped on the RT in the rider position, but my wife nearly disappeared in the passenger seat there is so much room back there! [emoji12] [emoji23]

My RSV is WAY more of an aggressive riding position than the RS could ever dream of being. My neighbor has a k1300 and its literally identical in seating to my RS. So much so, my neighbor has been Spyder shopping.

SOLD I have a 2013 RS SM5 with 420 miles for $11000 (which is under Kelly Blue Book) and an extended warranty plus more. I had a 2009 and find the 2013 a much more comfortable and stable ride.

Agree. I had a 2012 RTL and it was great. I traded it in on a 2015 RT SS with the 1330 triples. Both were trouble-free.
