• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Things you want BRP to make standard on Spyders.

I've said this before, so forgive me if I seem repetitive.

I think a big benefit would be for BRP to allow customers to order their Spyders and have them built on the production line.

As it is now, if you want the Tri-Axis handle bars, or HID lights, you have to buy them twice, once on the Spyder as delivered, and then you buy them again from the dealer. It would be better if you could buy OEM accessories once, at a lower overall cost.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong. I'm sure someone on this site will let me know if I am.

While the automotive manufacturers have been doing this for years; one snowmobile manufacturer tried it, and failed miserably...
If the motorcycle industry thought that they could "make a go of it"; you can bet that it would have been done already.

More POWER

I'll bet there is a few pony's floating around in the 1330 cc's . Variable Valve Timing might be a good way to let them loose.

A bit off topic ( but I'm good at that:joke:) Where is the "after market" on power adders?? I've added ;power to every motorcycle and auto I've owned. How about the :spyder2: ???

Underpowered vehicals cause:::::

to pay? :dontknow:[/QUOTE]

Bob most of the things asked for should not raise the cost or a very small amount.

Said it before...

  • Sports mode switch for the RSS giving a performance boost, less intrusive nanny etc.
  • or an RSS with a sportier engine (NOT the 1330 though as it's tuned wrong).

I like the high rev power output of the 998, would just like a bit more of it. Particularly coming out of the corners.

I own an RS and the only Spyder I'd consider in the current range is an RS or RSS so I'd need a compelling reason to trade mine in. Changing the paintwork each year isn't a good enough reason:-)

You read my mind 100%! :)

I think a build to order program would be a great idea. I don't know about all the manufactures but Polaris and BRP do it with their sleds and ATV's.

Been a while since I configured a new Ski-Doo but I configured a Polaris Axys 600 last fall (didn't buy) and I had options for tracks, windshields, color, shocks, bar risers, storage bags, instrumentation, etc. The price was updated to reflect the options and then you just had to select the buy button.

Pick your base model, color, and accessories It doesn't have to be the whole catalog but the more popular ones) and that's it.

Personally (with the currently available options) I'd go for an RSS with GPS, heated bars, sport fender, 12V plug and the hard case bags (maybe a back rest). I would expect the price to be similar to purchasing all the stuff separately. The benefit is I don't have to install it or wait for the bike and then the farkles. It's all set up from day one. I would bet BRP would actually sell more accessories if a custom order process were available.

Better accessable fuel fill location.
Spyderpops bumpskid standard.
Electric windshield.
Accessory ports; prewired power to the dash area.
Belt tensioner
Larger brake pad

I have a 2014 RT-S. Farkels aside, there's only one additional item I think should be standard on ALL Spyders: a power outlet in the cockpit area. For my RT-S, I would place it in the blank space in the center of the rocker switch panel.

The rationale for this location: easy to plug and unplug an electric vest. (Yes, I know there's an outlet in the tail trunk, but why should I have to run a wire from there, under the seat to where I really need it? And no, an outlet on the dashboard won't do; that leaves a wire dangling in the air to cause mischief. One of my BMWs had this, and it was a PITA.)

And this won't break BRP's bank. I've seen ads for these power outlets for $10.

BTW, a power outlet is standard on *all* BMW motorcycles (hint, hint).

Harley's been doing the so called "custom" builds for years, as did Honda with their VTX series. Can't see why BRP won't consider a custom build program using existing parts that can be interchanged between their various models.

if you're gonna build a Limited version then for pete's sake make it really limited! not just some fluff chrome pieces and gps. it should have a real stereo system that is easily programable. the radio system is horrible. and put some real speakers on the bike. get rid of the 30pin adapter and go with a 9pin plug like most Apple products uses these days.

color matched wheels (as an option)
move the freaking valve on the rear tire!!!!! :banghead:

paint the rear end of the bike to match the color of the bike. that rear end gets lost on an asphalt road. again try it on the Limited only.

larger gas tank for those of us who want more miles to cruise further.

USB plugs for front and rear passenger in waterproof casing.

why wouldn't you go ahead and light the reflectors on the bike? especially on the Limited???

Get competitive!

A new RT Limited cost more than any production bike. Harley CVO models are the exception. Not counting those, a new RT is more than any BMW, Honda, Harley, Yamaha,Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, or any of the exotics. (Ducati, Aprilla, MV, ETC). Come on, get real! Any of those will flat run away from any Can Am! BRP, wake up! Such a fun machine - simplify things, add power, figure out how everybody else can make a key chip anti theft work flawlessly, remote the oil filter (like everybody else did 30 years ago!!) so we don't have to remove a mirror for an oil change!, make tire changes simple, and the rest of the valid points brought up here!!!
a liter bike motor should make 150 HP. I have a 1300 that makes 167HP. Bone stock! From the factory. You can overcome the aerodynamics of a barn door with massive power! 15 second quarter mile times are pathetic! Top speed of 107? Really? Sad. 650cc bikes beat that in power and speed. How about lighter components, made of aluminum, and drop 200 pounds? Over 100,000 people own these, and most love them. They would love them more if they were world class motorcycles. Use the benchmark machines to compare to. Jmho, Joe
