• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Things you want BRP to make standard on Spyders.

(Back to Business...)
...The top trunk and saddlebags are not well-designed.
Make the saddlebags a bit wider, and about two inches longer (front to rear)
The top trunk should also be extended rearward by the same amount...
...or at least moved rearward, so that some more rider/passenger space can be opened-up for use.

I REALLY like the idea of opening up more space for riders and passengers front-to-back for the RT. That would be great for larger people or those with longer legs. Do it in such a way that would allow aftermarket venders to sell longer seat pans.

There are some very good suggestions so far in this thread.

We were forced

Did you know that the speedometer also does Kilometers per hour? If your driving in Canada or elsewhere 100 is equal to about 62 mph. 120 mph will equal 200 Kph and you will be right on the money.

I love to point to the 200 part when someone asks me how fast it will go. I leave out the Kph explanation though. :roflblack::roflblack:

I got up to 150 the last time I was in Canada.

I remember when all of us in North America used Miles per Hour , but then our Elected Brains of Trust and enlightenment decided to make us European here in Canada again . It took me about 5 years to stop thinking in MPH and use Kilometres. :banghead: . The rest of the Metric changeover was a blast as well since I was an apprentice auto mechanic and had to now outfit with metric tools ... Yee haw

Then ask for a
attachment.php

:D That could actually turn out to be pretty handy!

Turbo?

Speaking of more power: has anyone heard anything more about the F3-Turbo? :dontknow:
Wouldn't the "Custom Build" program, render our Farkling episodes pointless?? :yikes:
Otherwise; I've already added the LED lighting, extra turnsignal indicators and brakelights.

I love what Turbo chargers do for adding big power to any engine , but they do have their own heat problems unless used with an intercoolers . I guess the F3 ( as the prototype ) would be the only possibility for production ?

How about a suspension system that is first rate. No need to upgrade. (shocks, sway bar)
Heated seat, standard.
Custom paint program.
More useful sized saddle bags.
Shaft drive is nice also.

BRP threw it out there for everyone to see, and I believe that the response was overwhelmingly positive.

personally i would like to see the option for either a BLONDE, BRUNET, OR A RED HEAD ON THE BACK OF THE BIKE

Said it before...

  • Sports mode switch for the RSS giving a performance boost, less intrusive nanny etc.
  • or an RSS with a sportier engine (NOT the 1330 though as it's tuned wrong).

I like the high rev power output of the 998, would just like a bit more of it. Particularly coming out of the corners.

I own an RS and the only Spyder I'd consider in the current range is an RS or RSS so I'd need a compelling reason to trade mine in. Changing the paintwork each year isn't a good enough reason:-)

Wishlist

a) Better command center with GPS, better iPod/iPhone interface, more features
b) Tire pressure monitoring system built in
c) encoded protected pocket to toll tags that can always be read but secure from theft

faster parts shipping

I would like to see faster shipment of parts and major improvement in customer service by BRP and "some" of there dealerships.

A new much larger gage display screen would be a great idea. Get rid of those stupid mechanical sweeps for the rpm and speed. Use that real estate for the screen. User selectable screen configurations. Maybe a dozen or so. Able to choose from a digital sweep, bar graph or numerical readout for tach, speed, fuel and engine temp. Or a combination of them. I personally would like the option of the tack being a sweep gage and the speed to be numerical. Selectable area for secondary functions that does not timeout. For example the audio controls.

But the number one thing I want is. Not to have to push that stupid mode button to start!!!

Great thread. I copied most of the ideas that I agree and put them in the order of importance to me. Added a couple that I didn't see.

1 How about starting like a real vehicle, meaning after turning key ?
2 Make DESS an option ( I would not order it.)
3 How about a suspension system that is first rate. No need to upgrade. (shocks, sway bar)
4 Single sided shaft drive swing arm
5 Hand brake
6 Valve stem in an accessible place on the rear tire
7 Better quality radio and sound system
8 Better tires
9 Better serviceability Panel removal is a PITA. Remove the mirrors seriously?
10 Decent hex head drain plugs
11 Proper alignment done before delivery buyers should not have to have a laser alignment done on a new vehicle.
12 Billet windshield link, that cast piece is dangerous

you know what bothers me, BRP most likely laughs at topics like this. they are all good ideas, and some might just be a software change to get done, but they will do what they want to do. example, the DESS problem. the software has the option to turn it on or off. but they say they won't do it. WHY, if we signed a wavier saying it is ok to do it, why not do it for us. i would bet if someone from BRP is having the DESS problem, theirs has been turned off.

:shocked::hun:
I could be wrong...
But take a look at the changes that happened for the 2014 model year RT.
I think that they were watching closely!

I don't know if I'd want ANYMORE things to be standard, because it will add to the base price. I'd leave it at a standard model, then maybe a touring model and a fully decked out luxury model. Then those who want to DIY farkle can choose their starting point. Otherwise if you didn't want a chrome kickstand, you'd still pay for it and have to delete it at your cost.

Although, things like sway bars, hand brakes etc should be added cost items that a buyer can check off on the build sheet.

More power is always nice to have though!

Improved serviceability is always needed. Get rid of all those torx heads for simple Dzus or quick clips that most other faired bikes have. Easier access to oil, battery, coolant service points. Turn that darned rear tire valve stem the other way.

For me ;

Shaft drive (get into the real world )

Real tires ( not marshmallows )

Side compartments that fit an adults full face helmet.
