• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I seem to live by this motto...... Today my newest can-opener broke, my old one had stopped working ( for the most part ) but luckily I still had it..... It is the kind with the large twist handle and the round cutting wheel that rotates inside of the lid .... mine didn't want to do it's job any more....... I had always been intrigued by an electric model ( pretty expensive ) that you put onto of the lid ( flat ) and it cut the side of the can under the lip .....well I tried my piece of junk on a can of tuna fish the same way that electric one did it ..... WOW , it cut the top right off that can, it was so easy I had to watch the lid to make sure it was turning because I couldn't feel it..... I think this works because the lid is a lot thicker than the can body, plus the lip is larger for the turning wheels to grab. Note : I think I was actually turning it backwards from what you would normally turn the handle...... try it and see if it works for you .....PS take off the label first ..... Mike

Hi Bob,

Re: Get yourself one of these.

I still have my P-38 that was issued to me in Dec '59.

Hi Bob,

Re: Give it a try for us, and "issue a report".

Actually, I used it about two weeks ago*; worked great as they always did/do.

* I did it just to see if I still knew how to use it.

Interesting. ...🤔

i see what you did...:yikes: and without pictures..:roflblack: but because my lovely wife was always cutting herself on the open cans I got the one that cuts the center of the seam allowing you to re cap the can and no sharp edges. Cost a bit more than the traditionsl ones but I save a lot on bandaids....:lecturef_smilie:

Hi Gene,

Re: I save a lot on bandaids....

Reminds me of when I was about 10 yrs old. In those days, you could buy a ham in a can. The can came with a 'device' where you wound the 'device' around the can to remove a small strip of the can & then you would pull the lid of off the can.

I wanted to do it, so my mom let me. As I went to pull the lid off, I cut myself on my right middle finger, clear to the bone. That did bleed a bunch; and the scar is still there.

Anyone remember hams coming in those types of cans?

PS) I think I've spent a fortune on bandaids over the years. :banghead:
