• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyderann01 was returning from Spyders in the redwoods, when her spyder burst into flames! :yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes:
She is ok, but her short bus is on it's way to the big spyderweb in the sky! She is currently standing on the highway, as the firefighters do their thing. She said it is a small puddle of stuff about a foot tall. She is 12 miles north of Bakersfield. As you can imagine, she is NOT HAPPY!:banghead::banghead::banghead:
I bet I had 500 bucks worth of tools in it. I am just glad she is OK, and unhurt. Pictures to follow..........

thank goodness she is o.k. hopefully the insurance will take care of you on the tools

Holy cow! Glad she is okay and wish the best of luck for insurance and that BRP can determine a cause. I'd assume they would want a dealer to collect the remains for an investigation?

Were there any weird signs going on before it went up in flames?

But our spyders don't have heat problems....

Glad to hear you are all OK. That really sucks to have it all go up in a poof.

Please convey our sympathy to Spyderann, and tell her we are happy that she is safe.

If mine ever starts on fire, I hope it looks exactly like that when they get the fire put out

:yikes::yikes::yikes:

I guess that proves the overheating issue! So sorry to hear about this, Ann. I hope the replacement treats you better.

thank the good lord she's ok! not exactly what i'd be expecting on a trip!:popcorn:tell us more about the history of the bike!

Looks like one of those plastic bags on the side of the road got stuck under the Spyder and caused it to catch fire, Like what was said' caused a demo to catch on fire a few weeks ago..:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Glad shes OK

Reckon we will see a recall on this? Hopefully enough info to determine a root cause, Cause there aint much left of the bike to inspect. The next one will be nice too. Glad everyones OK :)

Very sad. Glad Ann is OK (I hope). That really was a heat issue & a fitting end to something that appeared to give her nothing but trouble.

Ya know.....

RIP, Shortbus.....

I really don't tend to say too much on this forum, as my post count shows...
But I got to say, Ann I am extremely glad that you are physically OK, hopefully your mental state is too.
I have a 2009 GS SM Spyder ( bought in 2010) that has 20,000 miles on it and have had basically no problems with it.
BRP better " step up to the plate" on these " heat issues ", or the Spyder may go the way of the Ford Pinto!

Bill
