• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The unfilled segment -on/off road spyder

The street scene is swamped with all sorts of variations of trikes. I know several want a leaning trike but lets leave that alone for this discussion. The side-by-side market is rapidly growing with some heavy hitters that are well established and competing for market dominance. Many (including myself) are hesitant to purchase a very expensive vehicle that is limited to back roads and trail usage. 80% of the Atv trails could be traveled with a vehicle that has minimal off road capabilities. So I think there's a huge opportunity to design and manufacture a reverse trike with on/off road capabilities. You could ride your spyder to Minnesota, or Wisconsin or the black hills and explore gravel and dirt roads and be completely legal as an ATV or perfectly street legal as a motorcycle. Make it 3 wheel drive and limit top speed to whatever is safe when the front wheels are engaged but still have the ability to cruise comfortably on the interstate in rear wheel drive. It would either need to be shaft drive or chain driven. Give the thing a sporty look like a sport quad/Enduro bike stance and capable of carrying a rider and passenger. It could easily be built to straddle 30" rows as the front width could be 45-60". I'd love to have one of these and be even more willing to provide can-am input on construction/function/styling :2thumbs::2thumbs:
what do u think?

Will watch this with interest. I think it would appeal to a small segment of the market, and guessing the cost will increase to make it usable on and off road.

Like this??

Oh, Oh, no picture again.

BRP has tinkered around with the idea...
Here's an image that they conjured up.

Well..!!

there might be a market but it is not a practical set up for off road. Jmo now if they built one for the dunes...:clap:

Oh yes because the dunes have roads, right.:roflblack:

I was gonna leave that alone. ...... but since u mention it:roflblack:

Most of the atv trails are nothing more than narrow gravel &dirt roads, converted rail beds and less traveled forest roads. Hell if nothing else it would just be nice to cruise gravel roads without damage

I posed a question once about an "Adventure tour" spyder. Maybe a little ground clearance and a more rugged tire
would be a great place to start. Man did I ever get a mean response to that idea. BUT...
three wheel drive ? Let's put 10 gallons of fuel on board and call it a Dakar.

Lots of trails have a unusable section in the middle of the two tracks, don't think the trike idea would work on that type of trail. Maybe fire roads or old farm roads would work.

Good idea!

ADV bikes are huge. BMW, KTM, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki all make them, and sell a ton of them. A huge percentage of roads in this world are not paved. A Spyder ADV would also sell quite well. Yank the Frunk, add a bit of ground clearance, ( taller tires), longer shocks, aggressive tires, and get it to market! Swap to a chain drive, trim up the fenders and go!
My next bike will be an ADV. Too many dirt roads to not check them out! Joe

I agree. I've done some pretty "interesting" trails with my ATV along with friends on 2 wheels. Most 3 wheel vehicle couldn't handle them. Aside from the fact they're not made anymore, this is one reason you don't come across any of the old 3 wheeled ATCs while you're out and about in the woods. Dunes are a different case. They might work OK there as the base is always shifting and ruts are less of a problem.

I would just be happy if the spyder were just a tad bit more gravel road frendly. Leave the trails to the ATV's. ATV's began as 3 wheelers and many rollovers were happening and this is why it evolved to primarily 4 wheel.

Around here they resurface the roads every few years and that consists of spraying tar and dropping that small black aggregate. If you encounter one of these roads that was recently done on a 2 wheeler, its like riding on marbles. A three wheeler is not concerned as much except for the tar being slung around. We also have a lot of unpaved county roads that are basically gravel. for now I need to get that missing belt guard to protect the belt but haven't done that yet. Oh and when it gets hot in the summer, Those roads remelt and its like driving on wet oil.

They already have the powertrain in their parts bin... The Commander UTV!
It's already got the All-Wheel drive capability...
