• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The things you learn...

This site is awesome, to whoever created and maintains these fourms thank you. I have only had my Spyder a few months but have learned so much, for example, coming from a 2 wheel background (a long time ago) whenever you shift you let off the throttle hit the clutch and upshift. Moving into the Spyder I was letting off the throttle and upshifting thinking this is way it is suppose to be done. Yesterday I stumbled on a post that was talking about shifting without backing off the throttle. This morning I did a little ride about 100 miles and tried it. Man what a difference No CLUNK, it shifts so smooth.

There is a " clunk" when 1st time going to first or reverse. After reading manual, knowing you can leave throttle on, I always let off then shift then resume throttle. 2015, so it's smoother this way, eliminates that slight head movement or feeling of forward/ backwards movement

It's known in Scotland as "the Can Am clunk", and it doesn't always occur, but it seems to be the "norm"!

I love my Spyder, on Tuesday I sold my VN900 which I have enjoyed for 5 years. I rode it last Saturday for the first time in months, and I enjoyed it - to a point. Clutch and gear coordination, I do not miss! Feet down when stopped, I do not miss! Did I say that I love my Spyder??

All the information on changing gears without lowering RPMs and turning with a vehicle that does not lean is in the Owners Manual, which is supposed to come with every new Spyder purchased. There is a lot of other useful information in the Owners Manual.

You can avoid that morning "clunk" with a little practice. Watch your tach needle on first start up. Each Spyder is just a tad different. But just before the needle reaches it's full rise, shift into First or Reverse, and you will avoid the clunk. You won't hit the sweet spot every time, but it's there if you search for it.

One of the most important and, unfortunately, intentionally ignored or overlooked statements about becoming a Spyder owner/ryder.
