• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Spyder Computer?!

BUDS - Is BUDS specific to BRP only, or does other manufactures use it (ie: Yamaha, Honda, etc...)?

Thanks
Thought this got answered. BUDS is proprietary to BRP. It is available to dealers only, with updates via the dealer network (WebBoss), a lease arrangement and fee, and restrictions for use. Even the dealer is unable to access some things, like the timing or fuel management curves, via BUDS. There is a special connector cable to attach it to the dealer's laptop, as specified in the service manual. If anyone has hacked into the Spyder computer, it has not become common knowledge. Sorry, this umbilical cord can't readily be cut.

Sure, go ahead and announce you're going to break the law...

:hun: break what law? A consumer can't buy into the BUDS system so therefore no law to break. And if someone were to hack into it, I wouldn't want anything to do with that. If it gets hacked then some idiot out there could put viruses in it - just like a home computer.

But if there was a way, down the road, for brp to sell some sort of license for people to do their own tinkering then I'd buy it. But you know that would never happen. Like with HDX who has a SERT, each sert is only allowed to communicate with one bike - it has a key that will only let it work with one bike. That would be cool if the Spyder had that.
