• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Missing Vent Grill

The Newbie "Do's & Dont's Thread" mentions that a lot of new pre-2014 owners got home from the dealer and wondered if they were missing the side grill on the RH side to match the one on the left. I have to admit that I wondered the same thing and even asked my dealer about it.

That big hole always kind of bothered me, but my RH grill is missing no more. ;)

Came from ESI Cycle Products. It looks just like the one on the left side (only a little thinner and made out of metal). It's well made and does not require drilling new holes to install. Click image for larger picture.

Don't think the grill will help prevent the hot right foot problem. But it does look better than just the open hole.

I thought about that, but I don't think it will make much of a difference. It's fairly open, so I don't think it will impede much air flow. They make them for the lower vent also, but I did not install that, as I wanted to retain as much air flow as possible.

It's the heat coming up around the seat that bothers me more. In a couple weeks, I'm having the dealer wrap the entire length of both header pipes with fiberglass exhaust tape and install reflective insulation on the inside of the upper panels. Next step after that is the Lamonster's CAT bypass.

Nicely done..!!

does make things look even. Many have a block off plate there to redirect the hot air flow the RS and RSS also does not have that grille and there are many sponsors here that make them. Webbed, wire mesh etc...looks great..!! :2thumbs:

As an alternative, you can also order the RH grill for a '14, trim it just a bit and have a factory matching RH grill. :D

I also have the problem with heat at the seat. I've been told to remove some plastic panels underneath the spyder and to put an aftermarket air filter and do away with the air tube plumbing. I haven't done either one as yet, but its on my to do list.
