• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Good, the Bad (not really) and the UgLY

RT-S PE#0412
No lie, my wife wants to go ryding up the coast and kept asking me when I was gonna get the trailer.

She had some requirements I had to do before hand. ( I won't go into those as I don't know you well enough):D

But lets just say that they were accomplished and this paved the way for my shopping spree.

When I ordered the RTs PE back in December 15th 2009 after demo ryding for less than

10 minutes, I saw so many possibilities, one of which was to get the trailer. I mean if this

turned out to be the real thing, how could you not. And at the same time BRP was offering

a free leather jacket too. Well I talked to my motorcycle friends (both of them) and they said I

would use it once and just stow it in my garage. Well since I could add it later, yet having to

forgo the PE jacket. I chose a safe route.

In hindsight since I had no previous motorcycle experience, this turned out to be acceptable. I would

take baby steps into this new adventure.

However for those of you that are reading this that are still on the fence about the trailer let me tell

you. This is a touring machine with the trailer. Yet in my short time of riding I prefer pulling the trailer.

It rides so smooth with the coil over shocks. The hardest thing to remember is to put it in Trailer

mode each time you start it up. I've got that worked out now. I really do feel like I am a pilot or

astronaut, and will have to one day write down the list of things I must do before going forward. I love it! :ohyea:

The dealership I purchased my RT from still had the trailer that came with it, I had the premiere

edition emblem.

Spyder018-4.jpg

I have had the trailer now 3 days and 400 miles later LOVE IT. I have logged 399.9 forward miles

and practiced yesterday trying to learn how to back up and park in my garage stall. No such luck yet.

I am an expert at removing the trailer from the hitch and maneuvering it to its final resting spot. But

am afraid I will get caught in a predicament that will not be a funny story at the time. :D:helpsmilie::yikes:

Now that my wife and I will be taking trips together we need to communicate so i have

the helmets from can-am helmets on order, but will have to wait to use because the jaws they

come with are sold seperate and are on back order till October. This is a good thing because it

allowed me to get the bluetooth ncomm for our Nolan helmets and I tried it out yesterday

and it works great. I even got the wired helmet to helmet accessory just in case.

My wife said were gonna have two helmets each ( in a stern upset voice!). I said yes dear,

there is no price to large for us not to protect our heads, and your beautiful brain. besides we

would be traveling so much it is recommended to alternate helmets daily t
o ensure their longevity by

airing out. :shemademe_smilie: I think she believed me:D

If you are superstitious, just to quell a rumor, nothing happens when you hit the mileage shown here.

Spyder008-3.jpg

I also noticed more people giving me thumbs up and asking where I was traveling from, and I

would answer "no where I just like carrying everything including the kitchen sink where ever I go :roflblack:

Spyder001-3.jpg

oh and one more thing my dealership repositioned where the location of my badge for the premiere edition goes.

Spyder004-4.jpg

So there you have it the good-trailer, future trips, (with wife)

the bad- wife can now be a back seat ryder with comm system

and yes the UgLY is this photo I took and tried to lighten up.

Happy trailering to yoooooooooooou , until we meet again! Now go out and have a HappY Fourth of JulY

AWSOME PICS

I hope you have a GREAT TIME in the future with everything, and think about next SPRING, going to CUBA, COWTON and help set a record.:2thumbs::spyder:what an AWSOME SITE

Also love the fact that you hardly know the trailer is there. No jarring on rough roads, no bumping when slowing down.

In the shot of your dash I notice that you have bars for engine temp and fuel. I thought that was not available if you have the analog gauges, which I assume are standard on the RT-S. Did I miss something? I don't have the bars showing on my display.

If you unplug both analog gauges, it will revert to the digital display.

Here is a cool addition when using the BRP trailer. Its from ESI and easy to install....The Back You Up kit for backup lights on your trailer
Real nice for backing up into the garage or any dark area

Thank you, Scotty. Is there any reason to believe the digital is more accurate or is it just done if the analog gauges are replaced with other gauges?
Was originally done for those that had the bouncing fuel guage. The digital is spot on for accuracy. Plus it gives you room for other things.....

Just finished 1600 miles with the trailer in tow. Bought the trailer the night before we left on the trip. So the trip was on the job training.... I'll do myreview of the trip later tonight but the trailer turns the Spyder into a touring extrodinaire............ not to mention that you completely do not know its back there... :2thumbs:

Is this the triple play?, I couldn't find on ESi's site "back you up kit"
I think I saw a video by BumbleBee on this.

That might be in our future. Did BRP announce yet where the next owners meeting for 2011 will be held?

There are several threads on this subject if you do a search in RT touring or RT shop
talk. This one would be a good start if you read all the threads posted. There are
like 45. Here is the link

It was originally done for accuracy and to stop the madly bouncing fuel gauge, as Dave said. The revised fuel gauge cures the original problem nicely, but additional gauges would be nice. No apparent difference in accuracy...after the new fuel gauge is installed, or on the later production RTs. Mine will probably get a voltage gauge and an oil pressure gauge, eventually.....although the idea of an altimeter and an air-speed indicator still intrigues me. :D

so Scotty, what did you think of my original post?

Bumblebee has the triple play kit. I looked on Evans site and they are gone. Well worth a call to them though.

Is it triple play or just back up lights that are extremely bright?. I wanna keep the amber turn signals, so
are yours still amber? I ordered the HMT Brake Light from Custom Dynamics, as I was able to use
a discount coupon from a previous order. Should arrive Tuesday.
About how much for the Back You Up Kit. Do you need to order two pair for both trailer and bike?
sorry so many questions, but it looks very functional.

awesome, I look forward to your review. Also did you have prior experience with trailering. Did you already know how to back it up?

Been haulin trailers for a long time .............with my truck or car..
.................... The Spyder trailer requires the same opposite turning as you would in a car or truck when backing up , however , the short short short wheelbase means your corrections are minimal (don't turn the bars far). By the midpoint of the trip I could swing in anywhere and back it out with ease.

Its a single kit that turns the upper lights into back-up lights to match the Spyder. Sorry but I cant remember the cost. I know it wasnt much though.

I successfully backed in to a parking spot today  It could have been just luck, it took three tries.
