There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. The dreaded Check DPS and Limp Home Mode again

Thank you Roger, there are a lot of Vets here including myself.George
did say he would unload BIG RED and I just gave him a way to get A
GW Trike if he is serious. The ball is in his court and I'm serious as a heart attack...not trying to ruffle feathers just making an offer....

Freebob..:doorag:

I read Freebob's $20K offer for BR1, but I must have missed the second offer...someone said there were two offers.

I am going to keep BR1 as long as it is reliable and if not, sell it. As I said weeks ago, my plan was to buy a RT AND if I did not like it for whatever reason, sell it and my '02 Motor Trike, buy a 2012 Wing and trike it.

Additionally, I said I hope my Spyder problems are small as I do like the machine and will keep it as long as it is serviceable.

Mr. Bob, $20,000 is a little on the low side for a 2011 RT-S SE5 with OEM CB, XM, GPS, Spyder foot rests and LED stop light. As I said, I plan on keeping BR1 and see how it goes.

Bob, as a side light, you mention "going back to the cave". Part of my land is over the Cascade Caverns, a huge local cave. I wonder if you have ever been to it?

Later, my friends.

George, Never been to Cascade Caverns yet but have been to most if not all Caves on East Coast...My offer stands for BR1 if you change your mind.
Hope everything works out for you with Spyder..your fellow USAF Vet...

Bob, I appreciate your offer, but I am going to stick with BR1 as long as I can stand it. I know you understand one of my concerns about dependability....sometimes I ride far southwest Texas, where you don't see a person or house for 30 miles or so and summertime heat can get over 100 often. If I had a breakdown, getting help could be a problem...no cell service and tow trucks don't want to drive 100 miles or more for a pickup.

I really like the RT, and will make every effort to keep it. I have a great dealer with a good tech and will work with them to the end.

Glad to hear you are an USAF vet. I put 29 years in the AF and loved it. However I did not wish to make a career out of it and got out due to a job offer from Sony Corp...went to work for Sony and retired the second time.

Later....

Just got back from a 50 mile ride. BR1 ran great. No "check" screens. Ran 8,500 rpms in 3rd for a short distance, 50-85 mph on the Interstate. No problems.

:spyder2:

Roger, Yes, today was a confidence builder. BR1 is a fun machine, no doubt. I will keep after it, I don't give up that easily.

I know we are funning each other, but there are many folks in south Texas who actually believe in the Chupacabra and report seeing them often. I kid you not!! :yikes:

ps: I have not seen one in over two weeks. :ohyea: :roflblack:

Went to dealer and the BUDS system said I had a bad steering sensor. It was changed out, tires checked, oil checked, belt checked and I was on my way in 45 minutes. BR1 ran great on the way home.

Sensors

What is the actually issue with these sensors they are always replacing? are they too sensitive? Of poor quality or is it the environment they are existing in?

Has anybody actually asked what goes wrong with them?

thanks

john

And so it begins!

Roger, the tech explained it in much more detail and said a magnet and "something" were not working as they should...in fact he give me this little magnet, about the size of a dime with a small screw on it.

Yes, it seemed to be working (no check DPS) when I rode 50 miles down to the shop...however he said that the BUDS said it was bad and replaced it. South Texas Suzuki, Lytle, TX is a top dealer in these parts.

I "think" my steering input is easier and perhaps smoother, now. It may be in my mind, but I think so... As I said, BR1 runs great.

Well... that's three posts of rants you made this morning. Are you just wanting to vent somewhere or do you want some real help? :dontknow:

Big RED 1

MY 2011 has been trouble free, other then my big boot, but did love my trouble free other bikes, that being said I feel the same about the gun I carry 98% of the time, when I pull the trigger it better go bang, got to trust it !00%. Hope all works out for you, the spyder is ahead of it's time for sure, the cutting edge of computer control I hope it don't bite them in the a$$

Well here we go again. Yesterday we took the :spyder2: out for a 2 hour cruise and all was good. Later that evening I took it out for a quick 10 mile ride into town and about 8 miles into it I get the Check DPS and Limp Mode Home. Pull off the road, shut it down, pull out the key, put it back in and restart the engine. Limp Mode gone but still have Check DPS warning. Ride to my destination and let it sit for 20 minutes. When I fire it back up to ride home all was well with no warnings or fault indicators. This time I was definitely not riding the brake. I now ride with my foot on the outter most part of the foot peg. Rode back home and no problems. This evening it went into Limp Home Mode again. This time I got Check DPS displayed and a VSS indicator. Pull off the road again. Let it sit for a minute shut off. Restarted and all faults were cleared again.

Looks like it's back to the dealership for the 5th time for the same problems. That's more times than all the other bikes I have ever owed. I need a bike that I can depend on. Cancelling Maggie Valley trip.

I was thinking of buying a Spyder but there just seem to be too many problems with them.

I'm really sorry to hear that, I myself am on my second Spyder and both have been flawless and enjoyable riding for me. 08 RS and 2010 RT...

Don't base your decision primarily on my particular situation. I just happen to have had a problem that my dealership cannot seem to resolve. They are a great bunch of people but just don't have the experience yet because of being in a smaller market. They just don't get that many Spyders in.

I appologize for making this sound like the end of the world for me. I tend to vent without thinking everything through. I'm taking my Spyder to the dealership this evening. If they cannot come up with a solution I probably will have to take it to antoher dealership further away that has a more experienced service department.
