• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Director strikes again

Thanks, Deb and Big Arm! I am finding the Spyder is much more than just a vehicle, it is a way to reach out and make friends with a much larger community of like-minded enthusiasts. I found the same thing to a certain extent with my Kawasaki Concours, but this is even more so with the Spyder, maybe because it is so new and different, and has created so much excitement across the continent.
Deb, you must be getting pumped about the Big Trip to L.A. I wish I was going too. Make sure you take lots of pics and videos. I will live vicariously through your experiences.
Cheers,
Bruce

I was happy when I read that you'd completed the Marathon successfully. I remember when you were getting ready to travel to it. But somehow I missed your report afterwards.

I think it's cool that you have "bucket list" and running a Marathon was one it, and YOU DID IT!!!! Congrats on the good run!!!

Bruce, you are a gifted author. Well written and well illustrated. Thanks for taking the time to write and submit it for our pleasure. And thank you, Deb, for bringing it to our attention so quickly. I visit the BRP site so seldom now that it is so bulky and hard to navigate.

Marilyn and Scotty, thank you sincerely for your kind words and thoughts. This is what I mean by "community." You folks are always supportive and positive, and I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness. And Scotty, I hope that you are continuing to do well. I am sure we will meet in person one of these days in the not-too-distant future. I would really love to see your motorcycle collection.
All the best,
Bruce

We are both doing quite well, thanks for the kind thoughts. Not 100% but continuing to improve. I have looked forward to meeting you for a long time, too. One of these days we will make it happen. Nancy's BRP bags came home today (dealer received them a while back but neglected to notify us), so we will be ready to hit the road with our new passports soon, and maybe we'll end up over your way. You are WelcomE to view my collection of junk anytime. I would be honored.

Good to hear, Scotty. Thank you for the invitation, and it goes both ways. If you can persuade the Canadian Border Services Agency to let you in, please come and see us!
That BRP side bag set up looks really sweet. I am sure you and Nancy will be happy with this accessory.
Cheers,

Bruce

:congrats:

It's funny, I saw that the other day and thought I had seen it before and didn't say anything. :opps:

Thanks bro. You were right. You probably did see some of the pics, as I had posted some of them on SpyderLovers after I got back home from Ottawa, and they are in one of my photo albums on this forum as well.

Cheers,

Bruce

Good job, Bruce... both on the write-up and the race! Whether you take on the challenge for health, as a result of mid-life crises, or for whatever reason, it doesn't matter, nothing but good things happen. I just returned from a 2200 mile road trip on my spyder (from Tucson to Steamboat Springs, CO) to run the Steamboat Marathon. It was my 3rd marathon, all done this year and I'm 58. Keep running!

Thanks, dryheat. Three marathons in one year? Wow, I am impressed! I am still running and plan to do the Detroit half marathon in October. I would like to do another full marathon next year.

Thanks Brian! I just might do that; I will let you know.

Cheers,

Bruce

Debbie and I did the 5K event years ago. I was still in shape from playing basketball and she was getting in shape. If you do come, we'll be spectators only, cheering you on at the finish line.
