• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tether for Magic Mirrors

This is the tether system I came up with for the mirrors. It uses 140# line doubled for a total of 280#. Used a Key chain Quick Disconnect so you can remove the mirror.

ENOUGH

One more option https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00015HAAW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc= Take off the swivel and or the snap and loop through the mirror and attache to the frame. I just ordered it.. not sure if 30lb test will be enough, but better than nothing. Total investment $3.49
Keep your fingers crossed ..........I'm using 300 lb. test .....this what they use when they go after Great Whites :gaah::clap:.... Mike  ................. PS it's not the weight of the mirror ( 2 1/2 lbs + ) that's the issue, it's the speed you are going at when this occurs and the air speed involved because of the Spyders speed........ that's why the LENGHT of the TETHER needs to be kept as short as possible....... the mirror flapping around at 60 MPH is going to cause a lot of damage.

Doc - Riverside's tethers

 But I have a question: Do the magnets have a lot of fun trying to "grab" the metal in them? :dontknow:

He installed them on my magic mirrors , and no the magnets have not been a problem trying to grab the metal in them!!

It is a great set of tethers!

Tethers for RT Mirrors with Magic Mounts

Kinda sounds like a solution to a problem that may not exist, IMHO. My '12 RT made it 1,500 miles to Spyderfest and back with out a problem, but...

I don't think Russell even supply's his tethers anymore like he did on the early shipments. I have his laying around here someplace if anybody really thinks they want/need them.

I used to wire tie the two halves of the electrical connectors together, but that required a new wire tie every time I took the mirrors off and that got old. And in 69K+ miles on the OEM system, I never did have a mirror fall off.

The reason why I hooked up the tethers during my installation, is that I sell insurance: I spend too much time thinking about all of the stuff that MIGHT go wrong...

And having them in place hurts nothing.
