• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well, I thought I'd do a little ride report since we finally had a weekend where it wasn't raining and the missus and I didn't have 'other' plans. We are new to the Spyder world, but we've travelled to many places '2-up' on '2-wheels'. This was our first day trip on '3-wheels' and I'm happy to report that we had as many, if not more, smiles per miles on this trip as we have had on any of our other outings. Here's the route we took for reference:



We also saw some great stuff and ate some fun food...but pictures are better than words, so...
 
Our first stop...Cross Roads Cafe...

Our initial leg of the trip had great vistas and long curvy roads, mixed with some tight twisties. We used this trip to get our '3-legged-riding' style down...so, no photos of us riding. But here's the cafe...the food was pretty darn good!



A cool shot of the bikes out of a broken window...part of the charm of the place...;)



I thought this flower arrangement with the stained glass made a great picture...you never know what you'll find in a converted gas station turned eating establishment...:shocked:

 
Cross Roads Cafe to Breckenridge...

The ride up FM-4 is a definite 'must do' if you're riding in North Texas. The road is littered with long sweepers, a few tight turns, and beautiful scenery. We road it up to Hwy 180 and took the 75 mph 'road' into Breckenridge. This was our scheduled stop to see their Frontier Days celebration and grab some more grub.

We parked in what little shade we could find. My life long love, Hadie (pronounced, "Hay-Dee") helped "Magster" (that's my version of a Flat Stanley...a plastic Monster Magnet...received one just like the one we carry with us today for my 5th birthday) get comfortable on our Steel Chariot to grab a quick photo...



Our riding partners are always fun...even when we park the bikes...:D

 
Frontier Days...why we love little towns in Texas (or anywhere else)...

Frontier Days is a celebration like many others across our great country. Towns, heck, even them big cities, pick a weekend to celebrate something significant. Frontier Days celebrates life in the old west...funny how you always find rides and such at these 'historical' celebrations....:joke:

Smaller towns seem to mix fun with...well, lets just say they have unique ways to mix rides and other parts of their celebration....



And of course, in Texas we make everything bigger...and that includes our Porta-Potties...:yikes:

 
Lunch at the #2 place to eat in Breckenridge...Trip Advisor can't be wrong, right?!?

One of the reasons I picked Breckenridge for our ride was because of the route. Another reason was the Frontier Days celebration...and whenever you go riding you need to eat at some good places, right? Well, when I saw the #2 place to eat at Breckenridge was called, "Ken's Chicken & Catfish" the selection was easy!



Yes...I also took some pictures with all the bikes in the photo...I'm an 'equal opportunity ride recorder'....:doorag:

 
Eating with Elvis...

Ken's Chicken & Catfish offered a wide selection of...well, chicken and fish. The decor was pretty cool...1950's vibe with Elvis watching over your meal.



We ate our meal and filled our ice teas 'to-go' drinks and headed back home. The ride was another leg of cool scenery and great roads. Once we got back home we checked the dogs and then headed over to Benbrook Lake (not on the scheduled ride route) to visit some more friends.

Well, that ends this ride report...it's time to head out and do some work out on the patio...;)

Thanks for all the great pictures of your trip. Nice shots, looks like your group had a good time and ate well. Weather looked great what more can you ask for...looking forward to your next trip. I alwzys loved riding the back roads in Texas back in the 80's...:thumbup:

I haven't had a chance to ride over in your area...I grew up in NorCal and have spent many days down in San Diego (worked a few projects over near the sub base). My brother has a Spyder and lives in Palo Alto...maybe one of these days we'll see you somewhere on Hwy 1 or 101...or 5..or...

Would love to see some pics of Old Town should you be in that area...they sure have some great eating in that part of town!

Love that ride up 4! Nice having a reasonably long run like that fairly close to home!

Can't wait to do that ride again soon to Mary's Cafe in Strawn so we can ride over the bridge at the north end of Lake Palo Pinto. I want to see the lake, which went from nearly bone dry (less than 9% full) to essentially full in just one month. Heck, after the rain we're likely to get this week, those folks are going to go from the point of where do we get our water from to where do we put all this water!

FM-4...and FM-5!

It's great living out here near Weatherford. We live near FM-5 which is another great road to ride....and Bear Creek Road is an 8 mile run that's right outside our neighborhood that has covered roads (tree canopies), tight turns and sudden dips making for another great ride. We're in our retirement home and one of the criteria I set for where we decided to plant ourselves (after 27 years and 7 months of having Uncle Sam pick where we would be moving to...13 moves during that timeframe :yikes: ) was being close to great riding routes. Having had the opportunity to explore the roads around here these past three years, I can confidently say it's a great place to live....and RIDE! :doorag:
