• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Sorry if I seem less than knowledgable. But I am.......
If the 2015 F3 the only model that has moved the park brake to the handlebars? And does Spyder offer any model with an OEM hand brake.

Being a double leg amputee this is important. I have a 2011 RS and love it but lots of modifications have and are being made to make it handicap friendly.

I'm sure there are many out there with the same type issues.

Hanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and ideas.

Jim; In addition to the General Discussion forum Lamont has an "Enabled Spyderlovers" forum listed on the Home Page. Welcome to the forum.

Not sure and no

Not sure about the parking brake button.
no hand brake available from the factory on anything.
There is an aftermarket hand brake kit. Not cheap. 12-1300 ish.
Doc Humphry is working on a kit as well.

The RT's parking brake button is on the bars.

Thanks, I do have the ISCI aftermarket hand brake on my 2011 the only issue is the dealers here will not work on adjust or touch anything not OEM so your kinda in a bind trying to get it worked on.
I saw a pic of the F3 And noticed the park brake on the left handlebar control. Loved that just didn't know if other models or years had that too?

Jim

Not sure..!!

but for the F3 I don't think they have anything out yet. ISCI (home page sponsor) has been making a hand brake for the older models. It actually operates the foot brake but not as well. Do check the other forum they have made many adaptions for folks with limitations...

Robtdonna , did that stat in 2015 or sooner, do you know?

Jim

Jim, the button is not really on the handlebar but it is just above the glove box along with the heated hand grip button and the button to adjust the rear air shock. On the RT it has always been in this location. I think the ST actually has the parking brake on the handlebar like it is on the F3. Only the RS had the foot pedal.

LOL. That's something I haven't done in years. I remember the first bike I got with electric start..... I thought it was heaven !

Jim

Jim,

SpyderAnn is correct, button is actually below handlebars, figured that was close enough for your purposes. Not sure about earlier years but that's where its at on my 2014 RT. Very simple toggle on and off.

THE WHY !!!!

That's interesting. Wonder why they put it down there on the RS.

Jim

st park brake

ST park brake is a toggle - same position as on RT. F3 is on the handlebar. RS is left foot/heel controlled. Can I say that one of the main reasons for me to trade from RS to ST was the park brake being electronic? I had enquired about aftermarket or BRP retrofit of electronic park brake to the RS and was met with mystified looks... I still reckon there would have to be a way, the only issue is whether it is easy-enough or so ridiculously difficult that it's not worth the effort (eg wiring loom issues).

Thanks the RS brake is a challenge with Prostetics for sure.

The ISCI set up uses the HD master cylinder. It would not be cheap but it would be better if they used the BMW ~2000 era braking components as they are power assisted. I have a 2004 R1100S and it has the power assist on the front brakes. This did not prove to be very popular so it was dropped when the 1200s came out.

I can tell you they would be perfect for the amputee spyder rider.

After test ride on F3 i asked tech about moving mine(also electric) to void on my STL. he said switch was too big & unless BRP came out with kit, it could void my warranty. Agree it would be nice & allow more accessory switch mounts. But if it makes sense not $$$ it wont happen. :(
