• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Taking the panels off 2012 RSS

My wife has received my old 2012 RSS in Nuetron Green Metallic, but doesn't like the color. She wants to make the green panels pink :banghead:. Is it hard to take the green panels off for someone semi-mechanical? Is there a video out there to show the process? Thank you.

PINK PANELS

I Think " arntufun " did one a few years ago when had His......you would have to do a search....or PM Him directly or better yet E-mail..............But as far as the PINK goes, you can buy PINK 3-D carbon vinyl at fairly reasonable cost on E-bay....for an RS it might be $ 50 to $ 75......Have you seen the Post here about the carbon fiber License plate HOLDER......They used the stuff I just mentioned........I've seen entire cars covered with this stuff.........Mike

I was thinking of the vinyl. We have a place in our town, I just hope it doesn't cost a lot. Happy wife, happy life I guess.

panels

It's pretty easy to take off the coloured panels, just "follow your nose". Tip: keep screw-things for each panel in a separate sandwich bag, labelled. About the only one/s we haven't taken off are the ones through which the sidebags/fittings go. See current 'air flow panels' thread for a couple of pics of my yellow & white ST and you'll see the panel I mean (just too lazy to remove the sidebags to get to this panel haha). Tip 2: at the base of the frunk lid there's a long bolt-thing. On our RS, easy to remove; on our 2nd hand ST not so easy as some bright person had decided to glue it in!!!

Pretty much can remove all the panels with a t30 torx and a flat head screwdriver. All the hardware is the same so no real concerns for mixing bolts. The only exception is the bolts that tighten to a painted panel have a plastic washer where the bolts for the textured panels do not. Start with the panels that would be next to your knees and work forward/back.

Is there information concerning how to take the panels off of the RSS before I buy it? I know it my be an easy task for some, but I like to research before undertaking this. Thank you.

What are you looking for? They are held on with screws. Take the screws out and they come off.... No rocket science here... About as difficult as lacing up a shoe.

All of the panels on the RS are simple to remove, it's not like the RT's which I understand is a bit more complex.

Most of the panels are held in by the standard torc screws. There's also a few of those plastic push clip ones dotted around (e.g. the rear panels under the seat) which are a doddle to remove.

Funny enough I think the most fiddly panel to put back on is the one that's supposed to be designed to be the easiest to remove. That's the panel on the left that you remove to check the oil etc, it has a couple of tabs you have to line up at the bottom before putting the three fixing screws in place and it often takes me a couple of goes to get the tabs right:-)

None of the fittings are hidden as such - You'll find some panels have screws under other panels so it's pretty obvious the order you need to take them off.

I've taken most of the panels off doing various services etc and never had to do any head scratching e.g:
