• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Taking Spyder along

As a fulltime RVer, all my toys go with me all the time. Yesterday was the first travel day with the new trailer and Spyder, a little different from carrying a BMW on a lift on the back of the motorhome and pulling the car behind. All went well - had Spyder tied down in every possible direction and no movement at all. 3rd pic is at 60mph which is just fine with me. Car's front wheels are on a "car dolly."
Life is good. :ohyea:

Although not exactly on point with this thread, but something along the lines of trailers, I've heard that most, if not all, state or federal parks that allow camping will not allow vehicles with trailers. Is there any truth to this?

NOT true in the West - ATVing would be dead, if that were the case… we camp in state and federal parks all the time, and will be in Yellowstone with a trailer in two days….

No, at least not to my knowledge. I have never encountered a prohibition against trailers and we've camped from the Rockies to Nova Scotia.

For those with motorhomes and an interest in the Tandem Tow trailer, visit: racecityrvproducts.com.
In order to get the 6x8 deck which you need for the Spyder, you have to get the HDXL model.
If interested, let me know and I can send you a referral card - which gets a small discount for thee and a referral fee for me. ;)

Looking for a trailer

We are looing for a trailer to haul our our spyder. Is it important that it have a plywood type floor or is a grated floor ok. Thanks.

RV and Spyder hauler

FYI . I saw this set up last summer in Knoxville, Tn. It was very neat. The guy was carrying a golf cart and a car. If anyone is in the Arcadia Fl area and interested in buying a used one. Go to Cross Creek campground off of rte 17. The owner said he would be in that park this winter and wanted to sell it. I have not been there to check to see if he still has it but it is a ryde and it sure would be cheaper than buying a new one. It would need some modifications to fit the 3 wheels of the Spyder.

I'm thinking renting a UHaul motorcycle trailer to take my Spyder on an adventure trip to NC.
Has anyone used this rig? http://www.uhaul.com/Reservations/EquipmentDetail.aspx?model=MT
I don't recognize the trailer shown, but when I was using UHaul, the determining factor was the width of the trailer's tailgate opening. The smallest trailer they had that my Spyder would fit was a double axle, and I had to supply the ramps.

The only restrictions I have seen are in "tent only" areas. Sometimes, they will not let you tow into tight areas with something that is hard to back up.

Awesome motorhome !!!

What does it cost you per year in park fees since you are a full time RV'er ??? What is your average length of stay per RV campground ??? Do you get electric and sewer at every campground ??? That is something Holly and I would love to do when we retire, that is why I'm asking so many questions regarding your RV lifestyle.

One other question, when we camp next to big RV's like yours we have observed more times often than not, that people pull up in those big motorhomes, park and they never come out of them. Why is that ??? We go camping to be outdoors. Some of them do not even put the awning out !!! :roflblack: What do you observe while your at the parks ???

They've dropped their reading glasses and can't find them...

Can you get a tandem tow without the tandem? I'd want to tow the trailer part for the Spyder but no car. I'd be towing behind my Tundra. I like the low profile of that setup.

I rented a trailer from Sunbelt Rentals to pick up my Spyder RT last week. The rear gate was across the whole width. I got a 6x10. www.sunbeltrentals.com It's a HD trailer.
