Well the most obvious place to start would be to check fuses and relays.

If you get on the brakes too hard with that fuse being burned out, the Spyder will also throw an ABS Failure code and then go into limp mode. Experience is a very good teacher. pps:

I replaced the fuse and have tail lights, But when I step on the brake pedal the fuse blows. Where should I start looking to track down the problem? Thank you

I would change the brake lights...bulbs. Look for water in the housing.
Start with the one that doesn’t work.

I would disconnect the taillight connectors, and try again. If that blows the fuse, problem is in the brakelight wiring...or added lighting on the circuit. Look for chafed wires first. If you have added lights, disconnect them. If you have the Triple Play, or something, call the manufacturer for troubleshooting assistance...or disconnect and try again. Could even be in the brakelight switch itself. Usually, only a systematic inspection will reveal the source. Lighting is hard to trace out shorts with a multimeter, because the bulbs ground the circuit.

My Spyder also goes through brake light fuses like they were M&Ms. :gaah: I's pretty sure that it's a short in the lisc plate light, but I'haven't been able to trace it down yet and haven't ruled out the brake lights themsevles, so if you do find a solution, please post it. :chat: Thanks,

A stinking mouse got me

A mouse chewed through the harness up under the tail pan. The dealer fixed it in about an hour and all of the problems I was have stopped. The short was causing all sorts of code's ( ABS, DSS, VSS ) to go along with having no tail or brake lights.
