I spent a year in Thailand way back when I was a 20 year old buck..... My only regret was not extending for an additional year when I had the chance.

Ummm....he was asking about Tahiti, and renting a Spyder I think. How did we get to Thailand 40 years ago?

My take on Tahiti.....I was there on vacation in 2001, hated Tahiti, liked Moorea and Huanine, and LOVED Bora Bora. We flew to Tahiti, then boarded a cruise ship and cruised the islands. Oh, no one in the islands works hard, they are on "island time", and that's not the same as ours!

We were there for 2 weeks and loved it, I agree Moorea is the garden spot crown jewel of Tahiti.
We will be going back maybe next Feb. or March again. We loved it. AND the food is #1 fantastic.

If you are imagining Tahiti, you are probably really thinking about the island of Morea, which is just a 10 minute plane ride or an hour ferry away. Bora Bora is also worth looking into. Tahiti is much more built up, but Morea is still rather rural and charming. Hawaii is also a good option - I've only been to the big island.

We have family in Hawaii, on the big island, we have been going to Hawaii every year for about 25 years
usually spend about 2 weeks there and have watched it change over the years.... Oahu & Maui have gotten super
crowded and expensive.
we did go to Tahiti and was there for 2 weeks 7 days on Moorea and 7 days on BoraBora and we loved the place.
Moorea by far is the best I would pass on BoraBora unless you stay in a resort the town is not much to look at.
The cost is not any more than Hawaii but the airfair is more because it's farther away.

Hawaii yes. Tahiti no. Sorry.
