There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. T-boned RT

RT-S PE#783
Wow what a way to end a vacation! :yikes: We were just heading back into town and stopped to gas up when a Yukon XL backed into the right forward side of the RT, bending the fender struts and pushing the fender way back over the tire . . . . . and their trailer ball hitch leaving a big dent in the side panel where my ankle shoulda been! :yikes: Thank God for protecting angels!

It nearly tip the RT over but thankfully the gal who was driving heard me scream and stopped. (I discovered the RT horn button is NOT easily accessible, especially when you're holding on for dear life!) I don't even wanna imagine what would have happened if I had been on a 2 wheeled motorcycle. And I am soooo thankful to have been on 3 wheels!

We don't want to speculate, and we sure hope to be disappointed on this, but but we're pretty sure these 'people of questionable insurance' will be leaving us high and dry with the repair bills.:gaah:

We're scheduled to take the RT in tomorrow anyway for the DPS replacement, so we'll get an estimate on the repairs.

:helpsmilie:Anyway, here are a couple of pics.... is there anything any of you can think of that we need to be aware of that may not be obvious????

PS We did call it in to the Police Dept but it was at the 6PM shift change and all the donut shops in our little town were closed, so we couldn't even bripe a shop to show up. :roflblack:

WOW, sorry to hear this. Looks like scuff marks on the tire so I would have it and the rim checked too. Good luck tomorrow

SO she nearly tipped you over? Wow! Yukons are heavy vehicles; I would make sure the frame is straight. a bunch of things could be bent just slightly enough to cause mysterious track problems later. have the ENTIRE front end thouroughly checked. Wheels too; One could be off of true now.

I am really sorry to hear this. People can be so stupid. I think the DA and the AG might be interested in how "responsive" local law enforcement was there as well. That was pretty pathetic. But your guys will get ya fixed up I'm sure. I wish you the best of luck. And I am glad you were not injured. That could have been worse.

:agree: with the others that while it may appear to just be cosmetic damage on the outside. I would have them check suspension and alignment since it was tipped up. Hopefully nothing to serious other than needing a new front fender and supports and some body panels.

Wow, glad you r ok!

Sounds crazy, but the same thing happened tome in my Dad's car when I was going to my first job interview after college. Just sitting at the gas pump and some idiot backed out of a service bay into my right front tire. It tipped the car up and the car almost fell into the pump. Glad you were okay. I am sure you will heed the advice of the others to have the entire suspension & frame checked for allignmennt.

I would have your shop take a good look at the radiator and fan, and anything under the panels on that side.

If the panel was dented by the tow hitch ball, that could mean that the ball pushed stuff around behind the panel.

Glad you are ok.

My wife almost got squished by a guy backing up in a parking lot.

Shauna was backing the spyder out of a parking spot and I was backing up my two wheeler, when this guy on the other side starts to back up too.

I had an air horn on my bike and I hit the horn button hard. I was trying to yell at the guy also. He just kept on coming. He did stop finally and did not hit us.

Distracted drivers are deadly drivers. I would almost be willing to bet the Yukon also had back up warning sensors on it that she did not pay attention to. :gaah:

I am very glad this only happened in the parking lot, and not on the highway. I am mostly glad that you were not injured, as the Spyder can be fixed much easier than you can.

Best of luck with getting the insurance sorted out as well.

Glad you are OK. It could have easily been your leg in the line of fire, instead of the fender. Any vehicle that can go up against a Yukon and come out fighting is pretty stout.....way to go Spyder!

First off I'm glad you guys are okay. From looking at the pictures I can't believe it didn't do more damage. It looks like the damage is limited to the fender and bracket and that's about the cheapest place you could have been hit.nojoke I would still have everything else checked out.

Glad you're okay and hope the spyder is fixed with no additional problems. I was placed in the same situation last week right after the dps was changed and I was on my way home in the rain. But, my situation turned out better.

Sorry to hear about your run in & hope things come out ok for you. Glad your not hurt & hope it doesn't take too long to get you back on the road again :2thumbs:

Wow!! Sorry you were on the receiving end of someone who doesn't know how to back up. Gone are the days when a driver twists themselves around and actually LOOKs out the rear window to see what's behind them!!! So glad it was not YOU who was dented, but only the Spyder's fender. Hope the fixing of this isn't too complicated that it keeps you off the road for too long.

It's sad to think that we aren't even visible to some drivers even when we're stopped!!! And the RT is "B I G"!!!! Just very glad you are OK!!

OUCH!!
As long as you guys all okay, then anything else is repairable... All of the suspension and steering pieces will need to be given the "Twice-Over". Is the fender the only cosmetic chunk that got whacked?
AnywAY; I'm glad that you're okay!

Sorry to hear about you encounter with the Yukon. Glad to hear that the outcome was okay for you, even though the Spyder got hit. All advice above is good. Let us know the outcomes.

It's never good when the Spyder gets dinged.:gaah: Just glad you are OK and that it didn't happen at the beginning of your vacation.

Red tape

Thanks for the great input!!!!

. . .and, just in case there's any doubt . . . i HATE red tape . . . .
soooo much paperwork with making a claim:gaah:
and they ask a gazillion questions but won't tell you anything......

Okay, I'm done venting . . . for now . . . . :chill:

PS We have an appt to take the RT to see the dealer tomorrow.
(We're taking the RS in first so we won't be Spyder-less in case he has to keep the RT.)

WOW, sorry to hear this. Looks like scuff marks on the tire so I would have it and the rim checked too. Good luck tomorrow

You're right! I checked the rim, and there is a scratch.
Now I can see where the initial impact started
and how it pushed into the tire and fender......
hmmmmmmmmmmmm
