There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Switching off without the parking brake?

I also find the parking brake alarm annoying - Shame it can't be
Actrivated/Deactivated or Noise level adjusted in the Mode Menu

I have a level drive and when cleaning the Spyder I don't set the Parking
Brake - I use small caravan Wheel chocks under the wheels
I therefore don't need to keep switching on and off the Parking brake to
move the Spyder

It would have been useful if Can-Am had provided a Accessory switch like most motorycles have - That way the Radio could still be on without the
ignition being needed

If you do want to use the Radio once the ignition is on -Should the kill switch be in the off position

I was told many years ago that if the ignition is left on the coils could burn out but if the kill switch is off this should not happen
Perhaps a more qualified person can give us some advice on this.

How do you set up parking lights on the Spyder RT without needing the key to be left in (Security Issue)
They are considering switching off street lights in some towns in the UK
and it may be a safety feature to have parking lights set due to the width of the Front wheels
Drivers may think they are overtaking a motorcyle but clip and damage the front wheels - Parking lights may help to avoid this

Geoff - Perhaps we will have to carry chocks just in case of a parking brake failure - I kown someone who's parking brake needed to be adjusted and until he got to the dealer to sort it out - Use to carry a small piece of wood to put under the wheels as a stop gap measure

Wow! That is just amazing, Roger!

When the parking brake is on I thought the depression of the foot brake worked the front brakes and the pull on the cable activated the rear brake. The thing is, in normal riding if I press the foot brake down about the same amount as the parking brake all three wheels are definitely braked. So what is going on here?

The obvious bad news is if anything happens to that cable to stop it working when parked there is no brake available at all! Now that could be really nasty. Wow! :sour::dontknow:

Yes, that is why I always carry a small wood chock with me in the rear trunk, just in case I need it !

You want to put the parking brake on the RT because the bike will roll.

That would be the SE5. Since it's like an automatic tranny, in neutral or in gear, with no engine it freewheels thus you need the brake.

I'm suspect ting that the reason for the loud beep is for all those that might shut off an SE5 on a slight incline withe the brake off. My car barks at me if I turn it off while not in Park. If I were legally responsible for manufacturing liability... I'd have it there. Kinda like that annoying beep when trucks etc backup.

Some advice on this would be welcome, I have been carrying something similar in the back of my mind for too many years to remember where I first heard it, but the warning kicked in when I found I had to keep theSpyder's ignition key on in order to have the PB off.

And a safety issue. Isn't it a legal requirement for a vehicle to be equipped with front and rear parking lights? It is obviously OK to park all night in towns with the vehicle's lights off where there are street lamps, millions of people do so as a matter of routine in the UK. :dontknow: Thinking about the Spyder's battery capacity, you wouldn't get much parking light time before the battery went flat.

On my 2011 the little book says that if you turn off the bike hold down the mode switch for a few seconds and the radio and cluster will turn on. It works on the 2011 RTS.... Not an acc switch but does the same thing.

My bike can have the radio on without ignition (the manual talks about this). When I switch the ignition off I have to keep going to the left (anti clockwise) one click past off.

My engine warning light will some times come on the display for a short bit then goes out, not sure why.

Hope that helps

The radio only continues to play for 15 seconds or so...until the display times out.

Using that same button sequence I've had the radio on for half an hour, at which point I had finished in the garage so turned it off and left. My C-Tek battery monitor/charger was plugged into the Spyder at the time - I don't know if this made a difference. :D

Just used mine for 30 mins or more last night. You have to shut the bike off and hold down the mode button, and the radio and display come back on.

I'll have to try again. I tried it on my 2010 and it shut off, but I may have done something stupid, or the 2011 may be different. The charger shouldn't make a difference. Thanks for the tip.

Here's what I do when washing my SE5, Back it out of the garage, stop, put the brake on, turn key off, put a chock under back wheel, wait another minute and release the parting brake and by then the alarm no longer chimes....

I don't know how you figured that out but thanks for passing it on. What I do know is it's going to be really helpful.

PS: Well, I tried your work-around but it didn't work for me on my 2011RT-S. But I did find out that the beeping only lasts for 20 seconds. I'll settle for that.
