• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

stuck in reverse

Got off work tonite and went to start the spyder and turned the key and quickly realized I was stuck in the reverse mode. Lights, flashers, everything came up but she would not come out of reverse. Checked everything I could think of but no luck. It still would not crank :gaah: . I had put a new battery on Sunday and drove it a little and was working fine. We loaded it on the trailer and am headed to the dealer in am. Anybody got any theories:dontknow:. I have a '08 RS SE5 . thanks

Coils' grounding trick done...? Mine did something similar to yours, showing "E" and "R" in the display, until I did the wiring trick.

Well the problem was a new one to them-they had never had one to do this-but we figured out how to get it off R and back to N and crank -- squeeze the mode button on the handlebars and hold the reverse botton down while pressing down on the brake pedal-this will allow you to start the bike and once started it will automatically go back to N. Quick fix for a long trip--glad it wasnt anything more or rather hope it's nothing more

well my spyder must not be standard issue because that was the first thing I tried--believe me..I stood on the brake. The dealer also stood on the brake..the only way to crank it was the way I stated. We ran several mock runs and they all were the same ending...pushing the mode button on the handlebars
You don't need to press the MODE button, just push on the brake. Standard feature of the SE.

I'd have my dealer contact BRP's dealer tech support. Something is certainly wrong here. You shouldn't need a work-around. If the brake switch is working properly, and the wiring is good, the TCM (Transmission Control Module) may be faulty. This will take a while to troubleshoot.

Thanks, thats kinda what I thought too. They told me if it happens again and If I couldn't get it to start that way to bring it back in and they will do a diagnostic test on it.

I'd urge them to chase it even if the work-around works for you. Something is not right here, and it needs to be corrected. If I were the tech, I'd want to discuss it with Kurt Otteson, from BRP tech. nojoke
