• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Stuck in Reverse Spyder SE5 2009

Hi all

I started to have this issue after my last 6K service.
I will turn on the spyder, switch to reverse, then try to go back to N, 1st gear without success

The only solution, shutdown the spyder, turn it on again

Differences, I drove it 1300 miles from O.C., CA to Seattle, WA, drove trought very cold weather during the trip

this is happening almost every time I leave the spyder parked/off for a long period of time and has never happened before

any thoughts?

thanks in advance

Sounds like you will probably need to have the Gear Positioning Sensor replaced. I would take it to a dealer and let them have a look at it.

Best of luck!

not sure about that one Lamont, if I remember correctly they mentioned something about a recall involving some parts but when I took it for the service they say it didnt apply since I didnt have mods like a different pipe or other mods like that

but then again i am not sure if the ground wire is the one they were referring to or the other one associated with some fumes from the engine or something like that after the 2nd update

Do you know how to check for it? I can check myself, since I travel from CA to WA and I am still here before going back it will be nice to see it instead of getting stranded on my way back :)

It's pretty easy to check.

Thanks Lamont, do you think that cold weather have anything to do with it?

This because it seems that sometimes it does it sometimes it doesnt

Also I add the RumbleRoad speakers in which the CrankCase is grounded directly but the speakers ground trought the handlebars because the case of them has ground connections

I am thinking of instead of that ground them directly

Cold weather should not have anything to do with the problem, unless it is helping to drain your battery some with the extra stuff you have wired into the system.

I have to ask . . . .

. . . . How cold was the "very cold weather"? FYI, I have been riding all Winter, there have been a few times when it was in the mid-20s when I started out.

And, did you do the soundsystem install before or after you started experiencing the problem? I recall reading ( I think it was Bonecrusher ) that had some problems after having some speakers installed, turned out it was a problem with the install/shorting speaker wires.

Between 25 and 30

Now, indeed the problem started after the speakers installation I will unplug them and see what the behavior is and post the results

Do you remember the thread in which he talked about this?

Or what does it mean shorting speaker wires :)

Regards

Shift Solenoid?

You might have your dealer check your "shift up" solenoid for proper operation. You can switch the shift up solenoid with the shift down solenoid. If you can no longer shift down after the swap then your solenoid is the problem. The BUDS software has a specific test for the shifting solenoids operation. We have only seen one of these fail. Vehicle was stuck in reverse and would not shift up nor did it throw an error code to the dash, was very easy to diagnose though.
