There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Stock Exhaust and MPG

My apologies if I posted this already but I got ridiculous mileage with the stock exhaust back on down to Gatlinburg. I got 35mpg nearly the whole way! With the Micron, I never broke 30.

Other factors: Micron lost a seal, just had oil change, and installed new front tires (same psi though).

Also of interest, I can't get over 115mph with the stock. I hit 125mph with the Micron and still had room to roll on the same stretch of road. Now, the 115 ceiling is after installing a hitch and F1 slide windshield but that's a big drop for such a small amount of weight.

Disclaimer: I don't know what any of this means. They're just observations.:dontknow:

I'm getting 32-33mpg all the time now that I added the cold air intake and took out the o2 modifier. I'm running the Yoshi pipe.

Oh and that's towing a loaded trailer too.

Have you bottled that cold air intake system yet? I'll take one. :2thumbs:

On my Silver:
- Hindle versus stock: -2.5 mpg, +25-30 mph
- F1 versus stock: -2 mpg; speed and confort on interstate: priceless....

i think with louder exhaust we are more apt to rev motor more cuz it does sound cool as hell and i think thats what makes the difference in milage ....

by changing the air intake and other mods, will they affect the factory warranty??

The rule is: Warranty isn't voided unless it's directly related to an aftermarket mod. If your v-twin stops firing, they won't mess with you because you installed bigger grips. :)

With the Micron-Warrior or the stock I get the same gas mileage 33 to 36. Also don't seem to matter if riding double or single and with or without saddle bags top box and F3 windshield. But with all of that by myself it will only do about 103 mph.:hun: Don't know what it will do without that stuff on..:dontknow:

verdict...

So, with everyone here modifying their Spyders a lot, what is the best way to maximize mpg? There is no K&N yet...that usually helps...

Does the Yoshi help the mileage more than other pipes?

I get 29 - 30 with the stock exhaust. And that is before my 600 mile check up.
I wonder if adding the Calsi windshield helps or hinders mpg. It seems there is a lot of body drag with the wind hitting full chest that is not present when the shield is deflecting it. My guess would be it helps to have a full shield on it, but just a guess.

Mike ;)

Lamont,

How to you keep from running too lean with the O2 modifier out, with the exhaust and pumping so much air through the bike?

There is a K&N. Also, Evoluzione makes a great filter. I noticed no mpg difference with my performance filter but I got a better throttle response.

The best way to increase mpg is to remove weight and baby the throttle. I'm not willing to do either so I'll continue  to the OPEC gods.

The real question is how does sending a fixed signal work better than a closed loop system where the computer can adjust as needed?

Unless one of those conspiracy theory 100 mpg carb systems makes it onto the market, the only real way is going to be a different final drive pulley kit. I got 36+ mpg on that Ruidoso rally, all stock.
