• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Still Leaking Anti-Freeze

Still leaking anti-freeze in new RTS. Have lost about 1/2 inch in 200 miles. It fools ya, after I corrected the overfill problem from the dealer which I thought might be the problem I took it out for a ride no leaking evident right after ride, but next morning it's under the bike. Same thing last night, I went for a ride came home no sign of leak, but this am leak under bike. It must accumulate on the underside and take a while to drip off. I suspect area around water pump, can't get at anything to see. Probably would not be a problem getting panels off if I had done it a couple of times to look it over closely myself but being new I think I'll just let them make it right. It'll be chaps and long John's weather in the AM, I'll be checking out the hand warmers - 60 miles one way. Will have to leave bike and make another trip to get it when fixed. Going to be nice week-end was looking forward to a more relaxing kind of ride with wife :cus:

You really shouldn't have to do this yourself on a new ryde, but if you want to there is one conventional worm and roller hose clamp (as opposed to the Oetiker clamps) that is possibly causing your problem.

Remove the Right Hand Side pull off inspection plate and with a good light you can see the clamp. Give a bit of a turn and it just very well may solve your problem.

Rodger - Thanks for the response - I think I will take your advice and try it. I have not had the tupperware off except for the middle side panels, but I may as well get my feet wet. Dealer is short handed Sat so I would have to leave the spyder and pick it up in a week or so and the forecast after this wek-end is rain,rain,rain. Maybe I can solve it and be riding by sat afternoon. Sunshine is pretty precious to waste around here. It's 120 miles round trip for the bike and car so thats about $32.00 worth of gas and a couple of mornings wasted for the wife.

:agree:I had an leak at that clamp 3 years ago [08 GS] tighten it with one turn hasn't leaked since.:thumbup:

How does inspection plate come off. Will I have to raise front end on car ramps to do this or can it be done from the side. I am speaking of taking off inspection plate and getting to roller hose clamp once everything is removed. Sounds like 3-4 hours labor for first time disassembly and reassembly for a new-be. Does that sound right. Thanks Again. Wife wants me to take it to shop, I am inclined to try it myself. If shop was 5 mins away there would be no question.

Your owners manual tells you how to remove panels. Look it up in the index under body panels.....it's only the middle right side panel you'll need to remove. Here's a pic from an RS clamp (radiator is to the right), it should be similar on your RT. 2 minute job.

SPYRYDER - Excellent. I took off middle right panel and there it was just as you said. Gave it one full turn to tighten. I looked in here during the day several times and could see no anti-freeze leak or drip, but tonight in the semi-dark with a very bright spot light I could see anti-freeze I think coming from this clamp location. Taking her for a ride in the AM and we will see if problem is taken care of. Trying to attach a pic of clamp location on 2011 RTS.

It's nice here now, around 70f but some snow in the forecast!!! And those Jets....they went to Phoenix a while ago but we might be getting them back soon!
 
No anti-freeze under bike this AM after tightening clamp last night. Will take bike for a ride today to start the Ride/let it sit/check for leak in 8 hours cycle again that will tell the story if I got it stopped. :coffee: We may actually get back to back days without rain :bowdown: so I'll be splitting time betwen the Spyder and the Garden Tractor lawn mowing (overdue).

Any 50:50 ethylene glycol coolant mix labeled for use with aluminum engines. Use the premixed, expensive or not, unless you have access to distilled water to mix the coolant with.
