• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Steering recall feedback request

Would members that had the steering recall patch installed be so kind to tell us if the Spyder rides any different? I am not planning to do it for a while until I have mine serviced and wonder if I should rush it more.

Thanks!

J

I am with you on that. I still have 300 miles before my first service.

Seems to me I did see a post or 2 saying that the steering is less glichy, smoother than before. But I suppose you'd have to have at least an issue to notice an improvement.

I know my steering has a little glitch or jerk right off the bat after I start it the first time I turn. Not a big deal but a bit annoying. Seems like it is centering or calibrating itself.

Once that first little glitch is done it's fine until I shut it off again. When I get the chance I will be taking it in for the software upgrade.

Too bad we can't just download it to our computer, put it on a jump drive and do it ourselves. I'm sure it could be done but the dealers would probably scream it was cutting into their service department.

I haven't been on major highways or freeways since having it done but see no difference on local roads.

I got mine done Satuday morning and went for about a 125 mile ride directly after having it done. Rode both backroad twisties and interstate. My thoughts are the stearing is much better. It has less play and less room for errors than before. Before you could turn the bars lets say an Inch to change lanes and now its about half inch to change lanes. All in all I would say it is a change for the better. It does take a little more effort in a parking lot as its now a bit stiffer.

Howdy,

I just spoke with my dealer, he has not done any yet. I asked him if I could stop by Friday during lunch and let them do the recall. I report back my results. I have a 2009 SE5.

Just got mine done. I never experienced a problem prior. If there is a difference now it's negligible. Could be the placebo factor in play.

I see feedback messages in several other threads. it would be nice if we could put them here too or just merge all threads having to do with the recall.

Just a suggestion :helpsmilie:

Well, I had it done and it went into LIMP MODE twice...DPS failure. Back to the shop.:gaah:

I've had my tech do 5 steering software updates including my own. On each one I rode it first, then he did it, then I rode it again. It seems like it is slightly more responsive and smooth at all speeds. I would say that if you're intimate with your Spyder, you will notice a difference for the better.
And, before someone get silly... by intimate I don't mean :cus:... well you know!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Recall complete

Had mine done today, along with the ground wire warranty install....something for the SE5 to keep it from getting stuck in gear. Anyway. I think the steering was much smoother, quicker, and I found that when I was pushing it out of a parking spot, the steering was actually much easier than before. Will be riding some in the morning in the mountains so we shall see....

The difference: easer to lift one front wheel from the ground

Not sure about that---- don't want to scare people away from getting this update done.

Steering is MUCH smoother with this update.

I highly recommend getting it done ASAP.

I took my husband out on the back yesterday. This is where I can really tell the difference. Steering was much improved. Took less effort to make the Spyder turn. A much more enjoyable ride.

I don't think I felt the improvement that much solo as I had not really had any problems prior to the patch. But now I'd say there IS a difference since the patch. I agree it's subtle.

I didn't have a problem before the fix but got the update due to steering problem posts. I really can't tell any difference yet. DOCDORU, do you know this for a fact or just trying to scare people? :spyder: I love the fact that the SPYDER is very stable and all 3 wheels stay on the ground.
