• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Steering (ONLY) Update Observation

Well, I got the update on Wednesday. I noticed a change right away in the way the steering responded. It seems to be much smoother in twisty situations. There is an improvement in the turn in (initiation of turn) and also when you release pressure as you begin to exit the turn. There used to be a bit of a jerk at these points that is now gone. It is now much easier to do slalom type of turns. Before the update, it was difficult to make a smooth transition from right to left to right etc. It seemed as if the power steering would have a momentary surge just as you began to change direction. This is now gone and makes it a much smoother transition from right to left to right. I feel like I can get the bike to "carve" a turn now and get it to keep carving from one turn to the next without little jerks at the end of each turn. Overall I am VERY happy with the steering part of the recall update.

As for the rest .... time will tell the total tale, but for now I only notice it running slightly lean at steady throttle around 3500 to 4000 rpm. If it stays this way or improves I will be happy.

Steering is definitely improved. Easier to turn in slow situations and no more glitch at startup.

Very happy with the Update.

Steering is so much better. I put 240 miles on it today in the NC mountains and Deals Gap and the Spyder turns much nicer. Smooth, more responsive and easier., On a side note, no surging today till the temps got up above 4 bars. It was cool all morning and the motor was smooth like before the upgrade. The surging for me is definatly temp related.

Well after some more miles, I am pretty happy with the update.

The lean condition seems to have gone away, altho the temps here have moderated a bit since my first ride.

I am running stock pipe with the NMN air filter.

Mine is being done right now along with the 6K service. Can't wait to see how it will handle after the update.

I was so keyed in on the engine issues that I didn't really notice any difference in steering.

But now with about 200 miles on it I do notice a real difference. Steering is "Smoother" somehow. That's hard to define.

But it is definitely easier to turn at low speeds than before. And no more hitch/glitch at start-up.

I'm really sorry that some have had issues with the update but it's been all good for me!

My dealer is Progressive Motorsports in Hudson Falls.

BahaRon, on my wat to get the update I did a bunch of extra turning, as in LOTS of slalom turns on the back roads. When I left the dealer after the update, I made an avoidance turn around a pothole and instantly noticed the difference! When I got on the back roads I once again did some slalom turns. The "smoother" you mentioned is pretty close to the easiest way to describe the change. In more detail, I think that the turn entry and turn exit are where the biggest change seems to be. As you start the turn it used to give a little "extra" assist before settling down that you had to really be sensitive to in order to not overturn in the entry. Same for after you finish the steady state part of the turn and let go of the pressure on the bars. This made it very hard to make a consistant set of right-left-right turns, without getting oversteer on entry and exit of every turn. Now, after the update, this is no longer the case. The entry and exit portion of the turn is much "smoother" and you do not have to compensate for the extra "assist" in these two phases of the turn.:ohyea:

Hope this Helps!:D

I've always had that 'burble' at around 3700-3800 RPM under load, no change after the update. I've put it down to either belt or counterbalace/crankshaft resonance. I just keep the R's above there now, she performs better up in the revs anyway.
