• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

States Visited maps??

Had a discussion with someone about these maps that many of us are using and an interesting question came up..... what is your criteria for saying you've ridden in a particular state?

Is it on your Spyder only?

Or are most counting them no matter what bike they were on?

Mine are Spyder-only. My friend had rented a bike in Vegas and counts that.

So what's everyone else doing?

I'm not sure that it means much if you count other rides. Otherwise, why stop at motorcycles? Why not put every state you've been to regarless of the transportation type?

I've flown over a lot of states...do they count? :dontknow:

To each his own but my map is Spyder only.

I'm not allowed out of the Tri State area, [nj/pa/ny] So i don't need a State Map. :roflblack:
Seriously though i noticed some people skip a state,
How do they get from one state to another with out going through an adjoining state?:dontknow:

Whew! Glad to find out others feel the same way as I do. I nicely told my pal that Nevada shouldn't count because it wasn't his bike and he didn't ride there...;)

I would assume that when posting them out here on a Spyder site - that most would consider them Spyder-specific states visited.

Not sure how to explain the 'skipped' states I've seen.

When I go to Sturgis in August I'm going to at least get one tire in some of the neighboring states----:D

When I had a map I went by the states I had been to on both two wheels and three. It's all about the states I've been to in the wind to me. :doorag:

I have 3 maps...first two are my Spyder states. Third is every state regardless of mode of transportation

:agree: When I did have the map in my sig, it was of the states I rode my Spyder in.

People trailered to other states, then rode.

States

My Spyder should be picking up states right now...

Instead, it is:

Day 49 of ownership
Day 19 in the shop

Still stuck in Ohio................:dontknow:

My Spyder has been in more states than I have ridden it in. This is because when I make a seasonal move I trailer it from one place to another, along with the rest of my stuff. So (if I had one) my map has some gaps in it that are states NOT ridden in, notably PA, but trailered through.

To me it doesn't really matter wear other people have been. If they can say and tell stories about their travels and have had great experiences, that all that matters. If somebody sticks a wheel in a state just to say he been there, then that tells me something about them. Hope they had a great time. Couldn't never understand why someone cluttered up there motorhome or travel trailer just to state were they have been. Quite frankly I don't care where my spyders been, but were I've been and if I've had a good time. So I don't do the map, but it is ok if you do. We're all different and that what makes life interesting.

Spyder States Only!

I will be updating my map after Friday

I agree with you, it's not the destination its the journey. It's not where I've been but where I'm headed and the great people I meet along the way.
I also don't post my mods either. I believe when you have something nice other people will let you know. If you have visited a nice state you don't need a map to remind you. I would much rather have a diary about the interesting people I met along the way. Live for the moment!

Many enjoy filling their map up--- nothing wrong with that. To each his own. I think it's kinda fun.:doorag: Some have set goals to ryde in all the states - more power to them.

Many also share their mods - not to brag - but to share so that others can learn and perhaps do similar mods themselves.

The journey is almost always better than the destination, and good stories and meeting good fellow ryders is about as good as it gets (Cuba was a great example).

Mine is states ridden in only on my Spyder. Up until this last weekend I didn't have Missouri & I thought some people might wonder how I could get to the other states without going through MO. But we trailered to TN. I finally did make it to MO last weekend so no more gap. :ohyea:

My husband has two Harley's. He would like to eventually get all the states. On his map he has the states colored either red or green depending on which state he has ridden in with that color bike. If he's ridden in a state with both bikes..hmm..what color do you get when you mix red & green?? :roflblack:

I've been to almost ever state with one type vehicle Or another. But never on a MC. So the MAP shows states i've riden in. To each his or her own. :2thumbs: :ohyea:

I have rode or drove across the country twice in the last 11 years. The first time was from Indiana to California along I-80 (car), and the other time was from California to TN/NC on I-70 and back on I-40 (Spyder).

I also stayed two nights in Washington (flew from CA to WA so I skipped OR), traveled through Idaho by car to Montana when I had to travel when I played football.

I include all the states that I stepped foot in (airports don't count). I have visited OH, IN, IL, IA, NE, WY, UT, NV, CA, AZ, CO, KS, MO, KY, TN, NC, OK, AR, TX, NM, WA, ID, and MT... sixteen of those states I was riding the Spyder. :spyder2:
