• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

State Police using RT's

Very nice  We were talking a bit about accessories in another thread. Interesting stats from the article. Vehicle cost $23,700 and police accessories another $40,000. :yikes:

What do you think about the color Bob?

Holy cow...is that $40K for "accessories" a typo?

Cool article though. As a kid some of the police had H-D trikes. Like to see if more departments adopt them. Maybe we will see a 'Police Interceptor' version with the engine breathed upon, better brakes, etc. :D

RE: $40,000 accessories. I too was wondering if the article had a typo. They said radios, cameras, lights, sirens, and stationery radar detectors.

And I thought my Farkles were expensive. I'll show that article to the Mrs. and then go get some more Farkles!

$40,000 buys some serious Farkle.

Is it true that Spyders have governors that max out at 120 mph?

I had a guy tell me they'll do 160 if you take the governor off. If that's true then you can bet the police Spyders come with no governor.

That has to be a typo. It is probably about 40K for the RT and equipment combined.

What I am curious about is how well they hold up to police work. Most spyder owners don't run 8 hours a day, 5 days a week with frequent hard accelleration and fast stops. A good traffic officer chases down 30 to 40 speeding cars a day. There is also a lot of engine idling time; while running radar, writing citations, working accidents, etc.

I wonder how BRP would handle warranty issues. One of the drawbacks of using Dodge Chargers for patrol was the strict maintenance requirements they placed on police vehicles and taxi cabs. If you went 1 mile over 3,000 between oil changes, they could void the warranty.

The wheels are turning now. I may have to call an agency that uses the RT and see how it has worked out.
