2013 RTS, just under 2500 miles. Rode about 40 miles this morning with 2 stops. The 2nd stop ironically was at a BRP dealership. Leaving the dealership, heard a small ping when starting the RT. The next stop was after 40 miles of mix highway & fast back roads. Started the RT, noticed the ping again and rough idling around 900 rpm. Drove 100 feet to a red light and it stalled as soon as I stopped. Started right up (no ping) and at the next light about 100 yards away noticed the idle was low again but managed to get thru the light into a parking lot. Stalled as soon as I stopped. Immediately checked the oil and it was low, added about 4 oz. Usually when I remove the dipstick, it s struggle because it is so tight. This time the dipstick loosened with no effort at all.I waited 20 minutes, started the RT. It started right up to 1300/1400 idle and felt normal. (no ping)
Could the dipstick have loosened enough where the engine could not maintain oil pressure and could this cause the stalling?
I drove 25 miles to get home and checked the oil again, dipstick was tight as expected & oil level was fine. Started again, idle was perfect. I revved the engine a bit (something I never do) and it stalled again.
I'm calling my dealer in the morning. Other than telling him exactly what happened are there any suggestions from the spyder owners that I could bring up with him regarding the stalling, you know pointing him in specific directions.
Thanks in advance to all for you help.
