• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Started stalling today.

2013 RTS, just under 2500 miles. Rode about 40 miles this morning with 2 stops. The 2nd stop ironically was at a BRP dealership. Leaving the dealership, heard a small ping when starting the RT. The next stop was after 40 miles of mix highway & fast back roads. Started the RT, noticed the ping again and rough idling around 900 rpm. Drove 100 feet to a red light and it stalled as soon as I stopped. Started right up (no ping) and at the next light about 100 yards away noticed the idle was low again but managed to get thru the light into a parking lot. Stalled as soon as I stopped. Immediately checked the oil and it was low, added about 4 oz. Usually when I remove the dipstick, it s struggle because it is so tight. This time the dipstick loosened with no effort at all.I waited 20 minutes, started the RT. It started right up to 1300/1400 idle and felt normal. (no ping)

Could the dipstick have loosened enough where the engine could not maintain oil pressure and could this cause the stalling?

I drove 25 miles to get home and checked the oil again, dipstick was tight as expected & oil level was fine. Started again, idle was perfect. I revved the engine a bit (something I never do) and it stalled again.

I'm calling my dealer in the morning. Other than telling him exactly what happened are there any suggestions from the spyder owners that I could bring up with him regarding the stalling, you know pointing him in specific directions.

Thanks in advance to all for you help.

Same problem

I had a problem similar to yours last week on a trip from Texas to Montana. In my case, the coil was grounding out and causing the problem. New coil, no problem. No idea if that's what's going on with yours. Good luck.

Have them check purge valve. Mine has been replaced twice. Rough idle and stalling.

My 2013 RT is also doing this. I read a thread that people were having this problem but it quit after break in period but mine is well beyond break in and it only recently started doing this. Mine will drop down to 1200 rpm then race up above 1700 and then it goes down and sometimes dies. Sometimes when I start it and go to give it gas I get no response from the throttle at all and it will stall. Have any of you ever experienced that? I had mine in for service last week but the service writer had himself convinced that I had an exhaust leak (Two Bros. exhaust) and he quit listening to me after he told himself that he knew what the problem was. :banghead: They did something to the exhaust and on my way home the Spyder wouldn't start and when it did it stalled. It ran like crap all weekend and I called to tell them that it wasn't the exhaust and made another appointment for next week. I did get 2 codes that first day one had to do with the 02 sensor and the other with a lean condition. I got the lean condition one again yesterday. I think they were P1136 and P1174.

This problem started at 9,000 miles on mine.

My 08 was acting like that [Back in 09], Turned out it was the ECM. And if it is? it's covered under the Federal emissions warranty which is longer than BRP's warranty, I did have to fight them over that..:banghead:

Didn't you have to fight them on everything? :roflblack: I'm just worried that my dealer is trying to pin everything on the Two Bros. Exhaust and I know that it runs much deeper than that. I had zero issues with this exhaust when it was on my 2010 and I got 9,000 miles on the 13 with no issues.

Although the TB exhaust could adversely affect the 2013 if the ECM tuning is different from the earlier Spyder, the sudden onset of the problem and the erratic nature point to something else. I'd suspect the purge valve first, and then I'd be thinking about sensor or wiring difficulties. I can't sy much about your dealer from what you have said so far. Too bad you can't get it to Pitbull, Cowtown, or Clem's.
